To put it bluntly, Anderson has a bit of a past with New England. One of the central figures in the Deflategate scandal, the veteran official was part of an officiating crew that misplaced the footballs shortly before that fateful AFC title game in 2015. In addition, there was a level of confusion that sprung up regarding which gauge Anderson used to measure PSI, as well as the fact that he apparently didn’t write down the air pressure of the Patriots’ footballs prior to kickoff or during halftime.
This will be his first New England game since Deflategate.
