Vrabel tells it like it is about the Pats drafting

I have never seen any report other than from fans that Wolf played a minimal role. If you have a link I’ll look at it.
He’s been consistent in his mailbag, columns, and even podcast.

Here’s one example that took me 8 seconds to find:

Two others on that short list have major health questions; and the 4th one's a Punter.

We don't have Any top-end talent, although I really believe that Henderson will be one, perhaps as soon as his first game this Sunday...
If Drake continues to ascend like we believe he will.. he will elevate any level of talent around him... Josh Allen has no big level talent outside cook an he was MVP last year.

I have never disagreed that Vrabel is in charge, I have said that many times. Nowhere in that did they say that Wolf has a minimal role, all they said was that Vrabel has final say, which we have all known all along. If anything they were supportive of him. Bedard said that 99% of the people in the NFL respect Eliot Wolf, and that Patriot fans and media should just chill out, and that the front office was all in sync.

And nowhere in that podcast does it even suggest that Wolf played a minimal role. What they did say is that “ beetle” whoever that is, should stop panicking and realize that they have a good front office in place. As well as Bedard saying that Wolf is widely respected.

You mean the grading system that gave them the 25’ Draft? The one they have chosen to continue with? That grading system?
You mean the same grading system that gave them the '24 draft? Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

That was Belichick’s grading system. They didn’t fire Belichick until 24’, and by then they were 3/4 of the way through the scouting and evaluation process. They implemented Wolf’s grading system as soon as the 24’ Draft concluded. This was the first draft using Wolf’s grading and evaluation system, and it looks like a home run in the first at bat.

Bzzzt. They used Wolf's (brought from the Packers). Check the date of that article.

2024 was WOLF's draft and NOT Bill's. He's Zero for one so far, because he's still at the plate for his next at-bat. The count is 2-1; but remember Nobody from 2025 has played Snap One yet in the NFL.

Looks like you were mostly right, though they couldn’t implement until February, so scouts couldn’t apply it during the college football season. But they could use it for grading. And there’s no question the 24’ draft sucked, other than Maye. However the 26’ draft was much much better.

You basically said what I did with more words.

I think it’s possible that Wolf is a very good scout.

I also think it’s possible that he isn’t great at actually choosing players.

To me, that doesn’t describe a GM but instead a dir of scouting.

That said, whomever made the actual picks this draft is who I want doing it moving forward.

I don’t think it was perfect (Campbell, Swinson, Williams may not be answers) but it was night and day better than recent drafts.
Why did this very good scout make such horrible picks?

What I contested was the claim about “ rumors” about Wolf’s role, which come from fans, and not the inside of the organization. And fans can simply say whatever they want, regardless of truth or credibility.
When I mention that Wolf is there to do media and that's about it, that's not coming from the voices in my head.

And I disagree. I think Wolf is there to do much more than that, and if he wasn’t he would be gone. The scouting and grading system they are using is his, and if they didn’t think it works Vrabel would have insisted on replacing it with one of their making.

Vrabel has made it clear that they need to build through the draft, so he considers it vital to their success. So why hasn’t he gotten rid of Wolf and his scouting, grading, and evaluation system if it sucks so bad? If he’s just a figurehead then Vrabel would get rid of Wolf’s system and implement one of his , Cowden’s, and Streichers making.

Im glad you disagree. Im just telling you what's been happening. You can believe it or not, but you're putting an awful lot of weight on the "grading system" which is, by the way the same one they used in 2024.

Every team has a grading system, there's nothing revolutionary about Wolfs, other than it was slightly different from Belichick's and very similar to his father's.

The grading system also has a lot more play and wiggle room than you realize.

Once again, we disagree. I think the focus and grading of prospects is really important, and Wolf plays a major role in that. I realize you guys hate him, but unfortunately that hate makes it impossible for you to be reasonable about his role and contributions to the franchise. And if Vrabel didn’t want work with him he would be gone.

It wasn’t just the person who made the picks who knocked it out of the park, the trades and moves were top notch.

The Pats managed to get in front of the position runs, decided to stay put with an outstanding trade offer on the table and drafting a potential generational player in Henderson, and traded down twice in the 3rd round, and still got Jared Wilson, a standout in camp at a position of need.

2025 was so good that I hope it doesn’t spoil us in future drafts.

What hate? Im just saying what I know. If it were all about Elliot Wolf as The Guy in that front office and I was told that, I would say that.

I don’t think Wolf is “ the guy” in the front office, I think Vrabel has final say on personnel, what I disagree on is scope of the role he has, which I see as important but you don’t.
