Vic Carucci doubles down on crazy

And AD's ability to play SILB is a bonus to that. I think outside of the base defense, Belichick will just put the best linebackers on the field, regardless of position.

I don't think there's anyway we'll get Peppers AND Taylor. But I think we can get Taylor. Woods provides a 3rd quality starting OLB, TBC provides a quality pass rusher, Crable & a Day 1 OLB are unknowns, but potentially valuable as well. So we'd have the ingredients to have a healthy rotation at OLB.

Heck, we have the ingredients for a healthy rotation at OLB without either Taylor or Peppers.

I do agree that the odds of the Pats getting Peppers and Taylor is slim to none. I would bet they get one or the other though.

I was just saying that I think the addition of both wouldn't neccessarily mean that Bruschi would lose all playing time. AD could see some time at ILB and they would have him along with Taylor and Peppers on the field at the same time if all three were on the team. I just think they would serve more of a three man rotation than all three on the field at once. Bruschi still adds value on running downs.

I think TBC or Woods would be cut in this situation. A situation which I don't expect to see though.

Not to say the talent couldn't make up for this, but bear in mind with that setup you've got three of your four LBs playing out of their primary positions (and two of them weren't really even LBs to begin with).
You do know that Brusci wasn't a linebacker to beginwith either. Nor was Colvin, Vrabel or even Willie McGinest. All played DE in college. Well, maybe Bruschi played some DT as well.

People get so weird about a player changing position, as if somehow not having played it means that they can't. Fact is that many college positions do not line up well with the pros, and the attributes that made a player a good RT, DE, LB, etc in college makes him a better OG, LB, S, etc in the pros.

We're talking DEs play OLB. That isn't exactly like making a NT into a QB. Not that Wilfork couldn't play QB.

But don't panic because most of our LBs played DE in college. That makes them BETTER at OLB. It doesn't mean they can't play the position at all.

I didn't say they couldn't play it at all. But for every player that switches positions successfully, there's at least one who would be better off just staying put. That being said, you're now rolling the dice that two players (I'll leave Thomas out, because we've seen him play inside successfully), will be adapting to new positions. Not saying it won't work, but it's a gamble and either way might not be the "Madden Football" some are describing here.

I think Vic knew he messed up with Peppers so he dumps it into something absurd so that ALL think THIS was the REAL latest....doesn't make sense...good for a laugh...

Or Vic's suffering from the Pats' information blackout, so he figures he will keep spitballing ideas until he gets a reaction from the Pats that implies Taylor is in, Peppers is in, or both are in. He's just seeking the public denial that will allow him to say, "but you note the team did not deny . . . ."

Vic's either a genius or dropping PCP before writing his articles.

I think it would be tough getting one of them under the cap... I don't think we can swing both.

Vic Carucci is pulling Dan Rathers on us. He's sticking by his story come he11 or high water!

Now this would be an awesome off season if they were to pull off signing Taylor and trading for Peppers. The entire NFL would be f*****!
