It's early, but we've seen hundreds of mocks and evaluations. We could trade and change our draft position. The best value for the patriots may not be the "best" value. But still, where do you all see the value at the points at which we pick? See below for my start.

23
I suspect that the value will be at OT.

34
I suspect the best value will be at DE/LB.

47
I suspect the best value will be at S.

58
I suspect that the best value will be C/OG.

89 and 99
I suspect that the best value will be at CB, WR and OT.

Good pts but what if Tyson Jackson is sitting there at 23?? That would be a tremendous value pick and a need going forward because of Seymour situation. Also, what if Unger is sitting there at 34?? We all know how cloudy the O-line situation looks like past this season.

We shall see, but I am 100% fine with drafting Jackson (or another DE) and Unger at 23 and 34.

First, I don't think Jackson will be there. And second, while I like Unger a lot, I suspect the value will be at linebacker. I do expect us to draft Unger, Mack or Wood in the second, trading up if necessary.

Good stuff. I largely agree, except that I have a sneaking suspicion that the OTs will go early, leaving a slow-footed Britton as the top tackle on the board by #23. That shifts the value equation, IMO.

I pretty much agree, at least with the first three. My preferred values are named Beatty, Barwin, Delmas.

#58 is more of an open option at this time. I can see several possibilities:

- OG/C like you suggest: Mack/Wood/Unger, or Jamon Meredeth if we don't go OT earlier.
- DE: Jarron Gilbert
- SILB: Robert Ayers, Clint Sintim, or Larry English
- WR: Hakeem Nicks or Brian Robiskie
- CB, if Alphonso Smith or DJ Moore falls

Many of these probably won't last till 58, but one or more could slip through. I could also easily see us trading #89 and #58 to move up to around #43 for one of these prospects, especially as we will likely have a late 3rd round comp pick around #97.

My "best case" scenario right now includes such a trade up, ending up with the following:

23 - William Beatty, OT
34 - Connor Barwin, OLB
43 - Hakeem Nicks, WR
47 - Louis Delmas, S
97 - Trevor Canfield, OG

23. Alex Mack- center-California

34. Trade to Panthers-Peppers

47. Darry Beckwith-ilb-lsu

58. Aaron Kelly- wr-Clemson

89. David Bruton-ss- Notre Dame

* Supplemental rd 3 to Panthers to complete deal for Peppers.

* The trade of Cassel was smart-it lowers the franchise value for Peppers-Pats will make this move right before the draft.

I think you mean compensatory not supplemental and you are not allowed to trade compensatory picks.

I love Jackson the more I look into this kid and if necessary I would trade up to get him. The teams I fear taking him are the Houston at 15, NYJ's at 17, Tampa at 19 and Detroit at 20. Jackson is so impressive in my eyes and very underrated as a player and athlete. He really stands a notch above any other 5-technique DE in this class. He isn't a great pass rusher but he is versatile and can slide inside in pass rushing sets and does an excellent job vs the run in base. He reminds me a lot of Warren and would be a perfect replacement for Seymour, who I think is gone next season. Btw, I see him having an awesome contract yr and getting big $$ in FA like Haynesworth.

I wouldn't trade up for Unger, eventhough I love his versatility, because I feel there are other comparable players that will be available at 47.

I'm fine with most of this except that Barwin isn't my choice (but I am fine with Belichick's choice of OLB at 34).

I am certainly fine with trading up to get a 4th top 50 pick. The choices are much better at 43 than at 58.

I would much rather have Belichick be able to choose Gilbert or one of the SILB's at 43. I do agree that both wideouts are good values at 43. I guess that if the draft were held today, I would do as you suggest. However, my hope is that we add a wideout in free agency which would lower the value of the WR for us and tip the scales to a DE or ILB.

I don't think you can put a single position as best value any where in the draft and thereby lock yourself into taking that one position each round regardless of where they rank.

I would much rather come up with individual names that I value at each selection.

23 - English, Butler, Sean Smith, Heyward-Bey

34 - Matthews, Barwin, Ayers, Hakeem Nicks

47 - Alphonso Smith, Delmas, Wood, Sintim

58 - Chip Vaughn, Luigs, Rashad Jennings, Jarron Gilbert

Anyone seen the latest mock at WalterFootball.com?

#23 ILB Rey Maualuga

#34 TE Brandon Pettigrew

#47 OLB Connor Barwin

#58 OG Andy Levitre

Not as high on Levitre, ( not with DE Jarron Gilbert or WR Juaquin Iglesias available) but I could definately live with this first 2 rounds :singing:

I hope everyone is aware that BB will use one of those first two picks to draft a TE.

why? unless it's Pettigrew there isn't the value and there certainly isn't the need.

I understand the prediction of a TE, but I don't think we can always predict what BB will do, even based on past behavior (he'd never drafted an interior lineman above the fifth round before Mankins, never drafted a day one lLB before Mayo, etc.).

I think the Baker signing took a lot of heat off the TE position. Not that he's a great future option, but it gives them more options.

I'm so up and down on Maualuga, I'm not sure I like this draft. He had some huge hits, but he also missed a few tackles while looking to make such hits. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they bypassed him to get an OT as mgt predicted.
