Maybe, but I'd bet 2010 Law > 2010 Butler...

Why would you sign a player like Law to take Butlers' time off the field?

Darius needs all the work he can get,he is young and apparently is the future of this team at corner like a few others.

While some of you want the 'lets sign a vet so we win now' would not help the team as these players continue inexperienced as a 3rd or 4th year players down the road and the defense still has no 'face'.

You can sign a vet and throw him in there in different packages during the game, but for a aged vet to take over and start at a position set for youth and the future is not smart, lets take our lumps and have these guys get 'it' in time or after a while if they don't improve then get rid of them.

Although I don't think Law has much left, if he could be a mentor to the young guys I might consider signing him. I don't know if he is capable or willing to be a good mentor, but this defense needs some veteran leadership in the secondary.

He must be 37-38 years old theres no way he could keep up with receivers at that age. Must have to feed his family again, they must be starving.

BTW Ty use to do this Every year, he would play the patriots to jack up his pay day. In the end he'd always sign with another team.

Those attributes were never previously on display from Ty.

Oh, Ty, the door closed a long time ago. In fact, I think so long ago that it has rusted and fallen off the hinges.

I wouldn't. That's why I said 2010 Law > 2010 Butler. But 2011 Butler > 2011 Law, and so on, unless Butler is a complete bust, of course.

One of the toughest things coaching staffs have to do is cut vets who are clearly (even if only marginally) better than rookies / very young players because they know/hope/think that in a year or two the rookie / young player will be even better because his career is ascending, while hte vets career is either flattened out, or heading downward. These are the kinds of decisions that lead to the Chargers getting rid of Rodney Harrison and Junior SEau "a year or two early".

I agree with all of that. Every word.

But I stand by the 2010 Law is probably > 2010 Butler statement.

I never said sign him. Never said he'd be the 2004 version of himself. All I said was 2010 Law is probably > 2010 Butler.

But thtat doesn't mean we sign him, barring an injury or whatever. Butler needs to be coached up, if possible, and given a chance, because he's our future at CB, not Law.

That's what I think also Deb....

I don't think Ty is the coaching type.

Like Jerry Lewis or Abe Vigoda.

Nice to know he's still alive.

I hope Law comes back on a one day contract to retire as a Patriot. He is one of the best players to ever wear the Patriots jersey.

No thank you Ty. It hasn't been pretty so far, but I've settled on the idea to see how well this "young & talented" secondary can gel over the course of the season. As long as they can be effective by week 11/12 and the Pats are still in control of their playoff destiny, then there's hope.

Seriously. No one in football's kept a lower profile over the past three years. I have no idea if or when he played these years.

And Ann B. Davis!

How do you know he isn’t a complete bust?

What happened to “the best players are going to play”? Was BB a fool bringing in all those FA vets over the years, I mean, they’re taking time away from the younger guys? If Butler can’t beat out old man Law than I’m not sure he belongs on the team.

I suppose we could just keep sticking Butler back there and let him get used like toilet paper, we won’t win any games and I think the motivation of the entire team will collapse. Bravo!

I say bring in Law and work him out, if nothing else just the news that were bringing in Law should light a bit of a fire under Butler’s behind.

So that's really Ty in that Snickers commercial with Betty White and not Abe Vigoda? :idea2:

No way. Old and slow and the NFL calls holding on Law's best moves.

2010 Mike Haynes > 2010 Ty Law.

Anyone know if Ray Clayborn is interested in a comback?

Hey! Mike Haynes is fully recovered from prostrate surgery

Ty Law was a rookie in 1995. This would have been his 16th season. Can he even run anymore?

Regards,
Chris
