Best part about the BSPN game is we won't have to listen to Don Criqui screw up everything for 3+ hours.

I just set my DirectTV DVR to record this using my iPhone. Technology kicks *****

I still think it's shenanigans that Sunday Ticket doesn't include preseason.

Oh my god thank you!!! :youtheman:

I think it's partly because (IIRC) teams negotiate preseason TV rights in individual markets as opposed to nationally as with the regular season/playoffs. If it helps keep the price from going up any more, I'll live without the preseason...
This is year 15 of Sunday ticket for me.....

On a side note.

Why is the NFL Sunday ticket forced to show the end of a 1 pm game during the 4pm game? Is it better revenue from advertisements (4thQ and overtime getting a better rate that they gaurentee to their advertisers)

I mean if I wanted to watch the extended/overtime game of the browns/raiders, I'd go onto that channel. This to mean seems stupid as local stations can override the major network game for the local market.

I'm not sure about the scenario you described. I do know that for the game being broadcast locally, the full game (in particular the kickoff) needs to be shown. Since that would be on the local channel it would not be on the Sunday Ticket channel. Also whichever network has the doubleheader that week, they can't have competition for when their 2nd game kicks off.

For example let's say Fox has a double header. CBS broadcasts the Pats game at 1, which ends early. They switch to the Jets-Bills game, which is tied. The local CBS channels have to shut off that Jets-Bills game before the late Fox game kicks off.

Perhaps some of that switching on the local channels affects what is and is not seen on your Sunday Ticket channels?

I don't believe it has anything to do with ad rates increasing later in the game. NFL games have a specific number of commercial breaks, regardless of how long the game is played.

I'm saying, let's say the Patriots are on at 4pm and the 1PM game goes into overtime. The Patriots game won't be shown until that 1pm game ends (i think I once missed all if not most of the 1st quarter because of this and a small handful of other times as well).

it just seems odd to me and there must be some type of corporate deal because if I wanted to watch that 1pm game, there'd be a channel I could go ahead and watch it. I'm forced to miss time on a game I would prefer to see (my reason alone really for having NFL Sunday ticket).

.

In a scenario like that, they only switch to the game starting in the home market of the 4 PM teams. For all other viewers, they usually continue with the OT game. With Sunday ticket, I can choose to watch either the game starting at 4 or the one in 'overtime' though I might have to switch to another of the 700channels...

Is I remember reading it correctly, the late games will be starting 15 minutes later this season to avoid issues mentioned in this thread.

The 4:15 games are moved back to 4:25. Those are the games on the network broadcasting two games that day (doubleheader network).

The 4:05 games still kick off at the same time (singleheader network)

If you have the Sunday Ticket then it is supposed to be on one or the other (either the DirecTV Sunday Ticket channel, or on your local channel).

In the past DirecTV had been not so good about making any necessary switches promptly, but I thought they had become much better in that regard the last few years.

Bottom line is that if you have Sunday Ticket then you should not be missing any portions of any games like you mentioned.

In the scenario you mentioned let's say I live in Tampa and the Bucs are on the local CBS channel at 1:00. That same channel has them scheduled to come on at 4. The Pats game should - should - be available to me in Tampa on a S/T channel while both games are being played. However, once the Bucs game is over the S/T channel should become blacked out and I would have to watch it on the local Tampa CBS channel.

(Fairly certain that's how it is supposed to work; somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

Well, with the 4:25 start time, that should allieviate the issue (mostly -- though it's been fairly rare for it to happen, but I've got 14 years of living outside New England).

Can anyone PM me a site they know that I'd be able to watch the game tomorrow from my iPhone?... Thanks.

new players. its gonna be great to watch them grow im really excited. :rocker:

I think that one way around this is that you can switch to the Directv multi-game channel and watch the beginning of whatever you were looking for. It may be in the small square but it's better than missing anything.
