Even so maybe he prefers several more years now when he is young to do what he loves and is passionate about in exchange for dealing with CTE later in life.
If his family is onboard he should have the freedom to do so.

If his family does not want him to play then it could be a selfish decision
Because they will have to deal with consequences as much if not more so than Tua

His family should talk to Ted Johnson's family and ask them how that worked out for them.

CTE can really mess up a man's personality to the point where he isn't the same guy. I had a neighbor growing up - nicest guy you ever met - who fell down the cellar stairs at his house and was never the same. He was not a nice guy anymore. In fact, he was the opposite of a nice guy. It was really sad to watch as he alienated everyone around him.

Amazing how a person changes by falling. Really amazing.

My son had multiple concussions as a youth athlete (not football) so I banned him from sports. He was a minor and we fought for weeks. Today he understands. He was never going to be a professional athlete, and if he was, it would have gotten worse. He plays rec ball and enjoys it, but he knows to be careful. Some people get concussions, so you have to be careful.

Regardless, it’s his life and his decision, not yours.
Sometimes it isn't the patients decision either. The question is if Tua should make that decision after having his brain scrambled so often. It may even be out of his hands and in the hands of lawyers.
