It was reported in a local Bahstin paper this morning that the New England Patriots gave Troy Brown a $100,000 bonus last week, for catching 40 passes. This is great, but they did it despite the fact that he only caught 39 passes.

If Wrong Borges, or anybody else says the Patriots are cheap, or are not loyal one more time, I think I'm going to puke!

Sadly, you are right! Should I go with the barf bag in robin egg blue, or should I stick with the lime green?

Borges and Cafardo will say something to the effect, "fearing an outcry of public sentiment and negative publicity, the Patriots reluctantly paid Troy Brown his long overdue bonus of $100,000." Or they will come up with some other reason, I wish the boxing scene was more active, it would mean less of Borges...

Actually...there is alot of boxing...but you have to work to cover it. Borges wants to write stuff he can glean over a telephone or by using Google.

Well I think this is a great gesture by the Patriots to do this.

I didn't catch that - which paper reported it? It looks as if a lot of guaranteed money was included in his new contract - which one could assume covered that contingency in part. But are they claiming a seperate transaction for $100K?

Tomase is quoting WEEI as his source. Michael Holley said a while ago that $100K more was basically built in to the guaranteed money in his 2006 contract. So they simply paid him more this year than they would have. It wasn't a seperate and distinct payment of any kind. Troy got a boatload of guaranteed money this year compared to last year. About $560K more that he will get even in the unlikely chance he doesn't make this years roster.
