Conventional wisdom holds that teams covet the first pick of the second round, and will trade up for it to "get their guy."

Without looking it up—in the last 10 drafts, how many trades have involved the first pick made in the second round?

I was thinking Detroit so they could get Best! But that was year after they have the #1!

Your question should be first pick in the second DAY not round. Remember it wasn't til the last few years that they moved to a 3 day draft. Used to be 4th round then 3rd round as the initial round in the second day.

Correct. The Jets traded up to get Shonn Green a few years back.

They traded to the 1st pick of the 3rd for Greene. Which you are correct, that year was the first pick of the second day.

Jahvid Best I believe they traded back into the end of the 1st for. Same year that Gronk was traded up for. I think Gronk was the 2nd or 3rd pick of the 2nd round that year. Cant remember who was first pick of 2nd that year

Gronk was 42! And Rams selected an OL if I remember correctly
