Trent Dilfer: Brandon Lloyd one of the best second reaction receivers in the league

Re: Trent Dilfer: Brandon Lloyd on of the best second reaction receivers in the leagu

Wait, did I watch a different game. In the Super Bowl I watched, I believe the Giants had the ball 38 minutes and we had it 22 minutes. The only luck I saw go the Giants way was some fumbles. They beat us fair and square, and were the better team, both times. I hate when people make excuses. I love the Patriots as much as the next guy, but let's face it, the Giants outplayed the Pats, period.

But it was pure luck for the Giants that Gronk was playing at 30%.

I'll give you that one, I bet Gronk was more like 20%. He's a beast and would have made a HUGE difference.

And we lost Carter down the stretch and for all intents and purposes Mankins in game to an ACL...

And reasons aren't excuses. There is always lot of luck involved in winning a Super Bowl from freakish helmet catches made to passes right through usually bankable mitts to zebra calls or non calls, etc.

Unfortunately, the bounces did not go the Pats way in the last two SB losses. As well as the AFCCG loss to Indy in 2006. Those are 3 losses that will haunt me the rest of my life. I know I sound spoiled, but man, if the Pats had won the two SB's and the AFCCG, they may have 6 Lombardi Trophies. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

I will say this, IF Lloyd plays as well as the last few seasons, he will be a huge addition to a great offense. Add a healthy Gronk, and possibly a still speedy Stallworth, wow.

I totally agree with you. These last 2 SB's and the 2006 AFCCG were devastating. Anytime I think about them I remind myself that even the SB's that the Pats were close and that we could easily have been 0-5 instead of 3-2. The breaks fell the Giants way both times, but to a certain extent, they also fell our way in 01, 03, 04. What bothers me is how all the Anti-Pats sport writers/analysts/opposing fans treat luck. To them, SB 42 and 46 were examples of how the Giants were able to totally dominate the Pats, never mind that both games were hard fought and that 42 required a circus catch straight out of a sports movie. Whenever the Pats win however, it comes down to "they got lucky" or "The refs are biased." In The weeks leading up to 46 and the following weeks after the fact, I kept hearing all this nonsense from other fans that "The Patriots only got to the Superbowl because the refs gave them the AFCCG" and that "If the Pats played the Steelers they would have gotten crushed. "

"Best second reaction receivers"? What next ESPN? Best tip-ball awareness?

And the Giants were seriously lucky to beat the Patriots and win the Super Bowl. Luck is part of the game.

Thank you Mr. Kyle Williams for opening the door for the NY football Giants. the Pats-Giants should have never happened. How do you miss a field goal from 22 yards out, anyway? Oh, wait, Harbaugh still has a timeout! Too late. Sorry Cundiff.

Mel Kiper, your Ravens are chokesters.

Brandon Lloyd is a man in traffic - that's what we have inside with Gronk, Hernandez and Welker. Put that outside the numbers and look out.

and yet it is a freak catch that would have been out of bounds 99 times out of a hundred to give the giants the momentum to go and win the game. Or the d screwing up by being offsides. etc. The giants dominated everywhere that did not matter.

one of these years the Pats will have an O and a D. At least I am hoping.

All I've heard all off season out of Kiper (besides his lousy draft analysis) is how the Patriots were lucky to beat Baltimore in the championship game. Every chance he gets he points it out. Of course he is from guess where? You bet, Baltimore. Your team choked the big one, get over it already Mel.

The Pats were lucky.

Evans should have had both feet down.

Re: Trent Dilfer: Brandon Lloyd on of the best second reaction receivers in the leagu

I'll agree that we were lucky due to the missed kick. I disagree with Kiper's notion in this video that our defense was exploited in that game. Given how lousy Brady played with the turnovers, our defense kept us in that game. Without them luck wouldn't have mattered.

Wha?

The Pats had the lead late in the 4th quarter and the Ravens drove down with relative ease to get in chip shot FG range. The NE pass defense could not stop Flacco. They could not stop Manning in the SB, both of them.

A pig in a dress is a still a pig and the NE pass defense was one of the worst in the NFL. And, the Pats wont be winning another SB anytime soon until its fixed.

I heard he was at his best playing with a black RB.

I mean, I'm excited to see Brandon and I'm sure he'll be terrific, but let's not come up with reasons out of nowhere on why he'll fit our offense.

Yeah but Brady isnt exactly one of the best QBs when the play breaks down so.
