Things got heated and were escalating with a second scrum a few minutes after the first.

Then players saw a HC jump into the pile to break up a fight and come away with a bloody cheek, and suddenly there were no more scrums the rest of the way.

This was not a coincidence.

That was why the Pats took him at 38 aware that he would be getting a guaranteed contract.

At that point they didn't know it was going to be 100% guaranteed, but they knew it was going to be at least the same proportion as Polk.

Summary:

Will Campbell lost a one-on-one, bust.

Drake May had a tipped ball pick, bust.

Mike Vrabel is our best linebacker, our LBs are busts.

@Steve102 doesn’t think Kyle Williams makes the team, bust.

Wait… the usual suspects aren’t here.

Ya. I got nothin'.

“There is nothing I can do for the players once they cross the white line” - Jerod Mayo

“Hold my beer” - Mike Vrabel

They must have had some sense of where the cap money is going. These things never just materialize from thin air.

It's clear as day now that your 2nd round pick better be a smart pick.

I like that there were a lot of positive reports coming out of practice - certainly better than hearing we were dominated. But wasn’t this an unpadded practice? Seems possibly 100% unrelated to what might happen once they start playing that game where centurions thwow each other to the gwound vewwy, vewwwy woughwy…

The 38th pick with a guaranteed contract won't be warming the bench.

Henderson is BOTH passing and running which does not telegraph to the defense what type of play is coming. Furthermore he was the best blocking RB in the draft.

It would make zero sense to not have Henderson very involved in the 25 Pats offense who is digging out from being 31st in the NFL.
Did you read what I wrote?

Stevenson and Henderson will share the load, like the Detroit RBs, like Ridley/Woodhead, BJGE/Woodhead, Blount/White etc etc.

Henderson is more valuable playing around half the snaps in a combination of 3rd down, “passing game Rb” which is hurry up, 2 minute offense, etc, and subbing in for Stevenson.

He will play around half the snaps, but will get fewer touches than Stevenson because he will be on the field for more pass plays.

I don’t think there is anyone who questions that will be his best role.
Do you think he should be an every down back getting 25 touches?

***Actually the best comparison is Dion Lewis and Henderson will be much better, but the role Lewis played would be ideal for Henderson***

As an aside, one of the most effective things we ever did as an offense was running out of the spread shotgun with Woodhead. It was very tough to defend the draw with everyone spread and overcommitting to the passing game. Henderson would be lights out in that role.

Why would the guarantee of the contract affect who they draft?

A Guy who's been a 300yds average a year: now suddenly have Elite Catch radius?? Go see what Steve Smith said about Baker Pre Draft and come back.
Hollins had 700 yards the year he was previously with Josh. Maye likes him. PatsFan2 doesn't like him. Who should we believe? LOL.

I heard from PatsFan1. Likes Hollins too. PatsFan1 said to ignore PatsFan2.

It was a padded practice.

In the past I think they carried 6 counting Slate
They've carried as many as 8, including Slater. That's why it's fully plausible to carry 7 with Hollins being primarily special teams.. But Hollins is not a lock by any stretch.

Bedard is an imbecile. Never listen to anything he has to say..

Dugger was with the 1st today. He was also lining up at LB when they went into their DIME situations.
Oh but according Betard he practiced less. Jesus he makes a big deal out of nothing.

Could they trade or cut him? Sure. What is the likelihood? Highly unlikely. If they were desperate for cap space or needed more to sign someone AND Woodson emerged then that likelihood goes up...maybe.

Trade? Maybe. Cut? No. He would cost more to cut than keep. And even if he is the #3 safety (which i don't think he will be) he'll still play a lot and bring value. No one they cut a player like him with a contract like that unless he is a problem in the locker room.

As for a trade? I don't think so. Maybe... but I doubt it. Who would want his contract? How much would we have to eat? What do we get back? Considering all the draw backs and probable lack of return i don't see how we gain value trading him.

When did we carry 8?

I thought bringing 7 out of camp last year was too much and Slater was retired.
