Tomase: Seymour may be a while

Let us all now bow our heads in a prayer of thanks that Armen does not, in fact, run the team in any manner.

Ain't that the truth!

Everytime one of these overpaid, pampered athletes strayed from the beam, I'd ship 'em out of town on a rail!

You can have all your dred-locked hood rats and injury-prone millionaries!

Give me 53 Bruschis, Harrisons, Bradys, Koppens, Mankins, Welkers and Izzos, and I'll bring you a championship.

Is there a good reason to veer from one sort of mind-slurred argument into another, even more slurring one?

So would I. Frankly, so would Norv Turner. But you won't find 53 of those guys available.

My impression of Seymour since he received his last contract is that

he is no longer among the most dedicated Patriot's players. I think he will

take advantage of his PUP status for as long as he can and not be

declared fit to play until the last possible minute.

What gave you that impression?

Add Seau to that list and I would agree...
Also T Brown (Of old)
or
S Gash (of Old)

Was I slurring? I haven't even had a drink yet today?

Seriously, where is the slur? Do you naturally associate the term "hood-rats" with a particular race? That is kind of your hangup and perception, isn't it?

In my part of the country, hood rats come in all shapes, colors and sizes!

"And since I look all white but my dad was black", I could take offense to you playing a race card, but I won't, on-account-a I don't get offended that easy (my daddy taught us to have thick skin and a sense of humor - check with your dad on why he didn't teach you that - or maybe he did and you weren't paying attention!)

Yes, Seau & Troy, for sure. And OHMYGAWD, how did I leave Vrabel off that list!

I am a little uncomfortable with someone suggesting that Seymour is milking this injury. Richard Seymour has played hurt the last two years. This is enough proof of his dedication for me. If Seymour can return healthy at any time this season then it will be a blessing.

I was referring to the "dred-locked" [sic] part, but fine--I will stand corrected and take my medicine. I should have minded my own business.

Don't let me further interrupt your imbecilish rants.

Wow this is a terrible terrible thread. The guy has played 12 or more game every season of his career. He played in every game (hurt) last season. He's 28 year old DE who is coming off three successive All-Pro teams.

Look at the damn numbers.

Seymour's career

Year Team Games/Starts
2001 Patriots 13/10
2002 Patriots 16/16
2003 Patriots 15/14
2004 Patriots 15/15
2005 Patriots 12/12
2006 Patriots 16/15

Yeah major durability issues.

I mean this
Don't forget the 2003 AFC Championship Game where Big Pu-Sey sat on his cushy tushy while Jarvis Green terrorized Peyton Manning.
is the kind of idiocy that makes the fan base look bad. Picking one game out four years ago - and not one Seymour played badly in but one in which his backup played well - is dumb.

I was going to post this when I saw it last week, but thought PFW just went off of local newspaper reports and it was already posted here and I missed it....

DE Seymour may sit out longer than most expect

"While DE Richard Seymour's physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) listing prohibits him from seeing the field until Week Seven, he'll likely not be healthy enough to return until a few weeks after that. And, according to sources close to the situation, Seymour may very well sit out even longer, for a few reasons. For starters, the shockingly stout play of interim starter Jarvis Green — who's recorded three sacks for the Patriots' top-ranked defense — has lessened the need to have Seymour play if he's not completely healed. Secondly, Seymour has a reputation of not wanting to be on the field unless he knows he can play up to the lofty standards he sets for himself. Finally, head coach Bill Belichick's desire to have his team play its best football at the end of the season could sway him to rest his star D-end, making sure that he's at full strength for the stretch run."

I like how out of shape couch potatoes think they have the right to call highly conditioned professional athletes a "Pu-Sey". People think that if you're a pro athlete and get paid a lot of money you forefit the right to get injured. Muscle injuries take a long time to heal, tendon injuries take longer to heal It's not an issue of being soft, that's why there's this magical thing called "Cortizone" it's an issue of being innefective because of the injury. Let's reverse the roles here. By show of hands let's have the Seymour detractors answer the following questions...mmmk?
1) How many of you have torn acl's?
2) How many of you have engaged a 315 pound left tackle and pressed them to lockout with a dislocated elbow?
3) How many of you have played through a broken foot?
4) How many of you understand what the roles of a 2-gap end are?
5) How many of you have played a down of football higher than high school?

Good lord, you'd think some of these pindejos are Ronnie Lott.

How many make millions rehabbing their injuries and are set for life even if
they never achieve the results that their contract was for? Apples, meet
oranges. Your comparisons are specious.

Harrison has missed more than 20 games in the last 3 years. Only 4 were for cheating.

Now you sound like a bitter old man. When Seymour comes back and dominates his opponent, please don't sing his praise.

I've seen sandlot games where dislocated shoulders were popped back in and and play continued. I've seen pickup games where players knew they'd torn up their knee and kept trying to play anyway. I've seen basketball games where the ball broke multiple fingers of a person's hand and that person kept playing. What separates the pro player from the non-pro isn't the willingness to play through pain or injury, it's the talent/drive/fortune to be getting paid money to do what others would willingly do for free.

Please keep your orders to yourself. When Seymour comes back and dominates
I will be the first one to admit I was wrong. As for bitter, save your psych 101
for someone who will listen to your drivel.

There is certainly an immense amount of irrationality and and illogic in this thread.

I think that one thing that is arguable/apparent is that Richard Seymour does not have as much of a reservoir of good will among the fans as some players. Or perhaps many are just turned off when certain players get connected to disputes, even quiet ones, over their contracts.

As long as he's playing at his peak in December and January, who cares when he comes back?

Weird...your post quotes me as saying that about Bruschi, et al.,, but that was Armen DPF. Odd system glitch.
