Brady's numbers from 2010-2013:

- 2010 (33): 65.9%, 3900 yds, 36 td, 4 int, 111.0 rating
- 2011 (34): 65.5%, 5235 yds, 39 td, 12 int, 105.6 rating
- 2012 (35): 63.0%, 4827 yds, 34 td, 8 int, 98.7 rating
- 2013 (36): 60.5%, 4343 yds, 25 td, 11 int, 87.3 rating

Clearly an aging QB on the decline phase of his career, right? Look at those QB ratings: 111.0, 105.6, 98.7, 87.3. Not uncommon. Most QBs decline in their mid-30s. Why should Brady be any exception?

But then let's look at his numbers from 2013-2016:

- 2013 (36): 60.5%, 4343 yds, 25 td, 11 int, 87.3 rating
- 2014 (37): 64.1%, 4109 yds, 33 td, 9 int, 97.4 rating
- 2015 (38): 64.4%, 4770 yds, 36 td, 7 int, 102.2 rating
- 2016 (39): 67.4%, 3554 yds, 28 td, 2 int, 112.2 rating (only 12 games played - his numbers projected over 16 games are: 67.4%, 4739 yds, 37 td, 3 int, 112.2 rating...unreal)

Clearly a QB that is improving from one year to the next. It's just incredible. Just as he was starting to decline - and the numbers are pretty compelling that he was, for whatever reason (health, lesser supporting cast, who knows) - he turned it around and went from being Tom Brady back to being TOM F#!*ing BRADY.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

Thank God they fixed that ball inflation problem.

Brady since halftime of the AFCCG vs. Indy....

2014: 49-64, 459 yds, 6 td, 2 int (playoffs)
2015: 402-624, 4770 yds, 36 td, 7 int
2016: 291-432, 3554 yds, 28 td, 2 int

TOTAL: 742-1120 (66.3%), 8783 yds, 7.8 y/a, 70 td, 11 int, 106.7 rating, Pats go 26-6 (.813) in Brady's 32 games over that time frame, including playoffs

Yeah, those deflated footballs really were the key to Brady being great.

Morons.

You could also look at this strictly from a personnel discussion.

I don't know if Brady is getting better or not, but the offense around him certainly has.

Right. I'm sure Brady has improved since then - his movement in the pocket is better than I ever remember it -- but the personnel affects things too. The 2013 AFC championship game receiving group (WR and TE) was Julian Edelman, injured Danny Amendola, Austin Collie, Aaron Dobson, Michael Hoomanawanui, and Matthew Mulligan. The in-season group also included Kenbrell Thompkins, Josh Boyce, Zach Sudfeld, and Gronk for 6 games.

"Hi.... a Jets fan here. Let me just add this..."

i never realized his numbers were decreasing that much from 10-14

Pretty simple. All goes back to 2008. He got injured and after that he lost the inclination to move around in the pocket as much. Stopped working on it like he use to and focused on mechanics and field vision.

2010 he was fully removed from his injury and looked great but still refused to move much in the pocket if possible.

Really i didn't see much drop off from 2010-2013. 2010 was a particularly good year for him though. He took a bit more of a gunslinger approach in 2011-2012 trying to put it on his back. People forget in 2012 they rushed in 25 TDs and scored a ton. His 2012 stat line does not reflect how well he played. If he was Aaron Rodgers and hogged the TDs he would have 50 that year. 2013 was just crap talent at skill positions too often.

He has improved since 2014 on though as the stats reflect but he was not dropping off from 2010-2013 as people who look at only stats like to think.

I don't even consider 2011, and 2012 to be "declining" he is basically right where he needs to be and still far superior to the rest of his earlier career and even better than 2014 when we won the SB. Only 2013 is a down year, and it is still right up there with most of his earlier than 2007 years with a slight dip in QBR

And your projection for Brady next year is ... ?

There was a two year period in there where TB seemed to be seeing ghosts in the pocket. I remember him ducking on a number of occasions with no defender near him. It's been a long time since we've seen that.

Great post, right on the money.
