who cares. different types of receivers. moss is more explosive downfield whereas TO is the grind it out type with the ability to gut plays out, make things happen. if either one is on my team, ill make sure they get the ball so they can make things happen.
it's easily moss...owens was shut down by the bills last year haha. moss, well he definitely wasn't shut down last year.
i think owens is decent at the deep routes. i think one problem with the comparison is that moss simply hasn't been used in intermediate routes lately, from what i've seen.
To whoever said something about Randy keeping his hands by his sides:
Moss does that for a reason. Many DBs 'track the ball' by watching the receiver's hands. Moss keeps his hands low until the last possible second, so the DB doesn't get tipped off to when the ball is coming and has to watch for himself.
Well, I learned something today. Thanks for that nugget, I'd never really thought much about why Moss runs like that, but it certainly makes sense.
To answer the original question, I think it's pretty much impossible to choose between the two. I think it's tough to say because they play in very different systems with different types of QBs (I'm counting Brady here, not Cassel, the jury's still out on that one). I'd say Moss is the slightly better talent, based on the reasons mentioned by others, but production-wise (which is what counts), I'd call it a wash.
Both are sure-fire HOFers and might be the 2nd and 3rd best receivers to ever play (in whichever order you want) when all is said and done.
