Busy Titans expected to franchise TE Scaife

With Tennessee able to sign kicker Rob Bironas and unable to tag defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, the Titans today will use their franchise player designation on tight end Bo Scaife, a league source said.

Scaife will become the first tight end to be tagged this offseason and will be assured of making the tight end franchise number of $4.46 million — though he will not be able to test the free-agent market, as he had hoped. Tennessee could not risk losing Scaife, who last season led the Titans in receptions with 58.

Well apparently Haynesworth's demands to become a free agent were enough to make the Titans blink. Franchising Scaife is not a bad idea because the number for tagging a Tight End is so low, and he's such a big part of their passing game.

Yeah he has been a very consistent player for the Titans for the price it makes perfect sense to franchise him since Hanes wants to test the FA market.
