Three familiar faces signed to the practice squad

As the Patriots are in San Diego preparing for Sunday’s game with the Chargers, the team departed with three openings on its practice squad. They filled out the practice squad on Wednesday by signing three players — cornerbacks Daxton Swanson and Justin Green, as well as linebacker Deontae Skinner.

All three have showed very brief glimpses of potential, but were clearly no where near ready for full time gigs. Hopefully this allows them to continue their development.

Curious that we sign two CBs for the practice squad despite all the depth we have at the position.

After watching Sunday I am not as sure we have sufficient depth at CB. Not that I expect any of these guys to see the field this year. That said, Arrington and Dennard have apparently both been battling nagging injuries.

Kyle Arrington left Sun's game against the Packers with an injury, but I'm told it's "nothing serious." Should be good to go vs. Chargers.

I like Justin Green he was a very good ST player and showed some promise at CB last season. Dallas traded for him if I remember correctly? Things must not have worked out for him down there.

With the way Ryan and Dennard played and with the injury to Arrington, I would like to see more of Butler this week. I think he has been pretty good when given a chance.

Bb appears to be consistently light on linebackers for the main team as well as the practice squad.

All true but it is unreasonable to assume that practice squad players can be an instant improvement on players like Dennard.

Swanson had a good TC and played ok In a preseason game. So nice to have him back but expectations are low.
