This was never going to be a great season

oops, wrong movie
She looks wide awake to me.... LOL

I am hoping to see improvement after last year. The mental mistakes, penalties and sloppy play were really frustrating. The jets game didn’t meet my expectations on improvement.
you hoped to see marked improvement after 3 games? Give it time. Perhaps we list might some items that we want to see on this 6 win team (hopefully).

This will be a very long season. We'll see a few good games, but mostly not. It isn't JUST about the QB, but switch QB's and I think that we would have had a decent chance of winning against the jets. Next year, our QB will have real growing pains as he tries to lead us to a possible playoff spot.

We have a good chance of ending the season with

OFFENSE
1) a very solid running game, two runners led by excellent run blockers and a solid starting TE, and 6th jumbo OL when needed. CHECK
2) a starting RT, or at worst a solid backup RT who can also be our 6th jumbo OL.
3) solid guards (since we likely have 4 solid guards that is any easy one) CHECK
4) a more experienced set of WR's. I like Bourne, Pop and Polk as a solid group, needing a #1. Anything out of the rest is gravy.
5) a QB with a bit of experience under his belt. As all teams, we will need a #2 QB. I doubt that Milton is the answer. He is likely to be #3 again. and the answer is NOT Brissett again.

DEFENSE
Other than health and experience, I don't look for much other than perhaps some development at #4 CB. There could be a player or two who surprises especially on the DL, but we will need a couple of front six additions next year in addition to dealing re-signing or replacing Wise, Uche, Jones and Hawkins.

They are IMO a well coached team. Last season by week 3 the season was lost. I believe this team is closer to what we saw the last 2 weeks than last night.
I hope you’re right on last night not being an example for the remainder of the season

Losing doesn’t really bother me this season and I think we should still start JB for the 49ers. This season has always been about development of Maye and yeah, you could argue that it would have been a good idea to throw him out game 1, but maybe the coaching staff has decided for whatever reason that starting JB is a better decision? We won’t win many games this year but it’s about next year. If JB continues to struggle, start Maye by game 5-7, but not against SF. It won’t be pretty.

Let’s hope next season is better and I think it will be as long as Maye can play at least average.
Losing didn't bother me last season, in fact I was all for it. I saw the writing on the wall and wanted the Pats to have their pick of the QB litter. Then the following season grab the line guys etc. I also though the QB would play week 1 and that the offense would be much, much better.

Instead, Brissett is playing, the line is complete crap due to injury, it's borderline ok when all whole. Because of that I have zero feeling they will win many if any more games even IF Maye plays. Team is so beat up and in transition that it's gonna be a hard road.
After the last 20 years, losing doesn't bother me either. I'm also older now and value other things over football like family/friends and health.

If they win, great! If they don't, it doesn't ruin my day.
It's kind of relaxing anyway not living and dying game by game.. I used to hate losses and couldn't sleep that night. Lol

"I'm OK with losing, we weren't supposed to win this year anyway." "I was fine with losing last year." "I had plenty of winning over 20 years." "Maybe next year we can at least be mediocre." Blah, blah blah ...

Seriously, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??? The Patriots have been severely mismanaged to the point of becoming a league doormat and THIS is how you feel? It's sad to see fair weather fans in the making, truly sad.

Losing sucks, it never should be considered "acceptable" regardless of circumstances. Elliot Wolf has done a crap job making this roster competitive and should be held accountable along with the Krafts and everyone else. SMH.

I’m sure Mayo is going to have a pretty long leash but I hope they don’t hesitate to move on from Van Pelt if there’s a better candidate out there next offseason. Based on reports Van Pelt was far from their first choice, so I’m sure they weren’t enamored by the guy. So far, I’ve seen nothing in his game plan or play calling that doesn’t make him replacement level at best, and if you’re going to have a very young inexperienced defensive head coach, you need to try to find a gem at OC for it at to work, ala Houston Texans.

You must have missed the JETS game last night. Easily a Top 5 coaching disaster in the last 25 to 30 years. Complete *** kicking.

Hate to break it to you, but this year by Week 3 the season is also lost.

It was a matter of time before you joined us. Watch much football? Last night was a bad game all around no defense for that. I still believe this team is closer to what we saw last 2 weeks.

Did you notice the team is looking worse every week? That is called a downward trend.

How it works is that the opposing teams look at your film (there is no film for game 1) and they adjust. If the team still looks strong after the opposing adjustments are made, that is a good sign of things to come.

Remember the group of people who said Mac Jones had a good rookie campaign, but others said Mac faded over the year which was not a good sign for 2022? Same thing, look at the trend instead of cherry picking the games you prefer.

I don’t think that makes me a fair weather fan? Look Tune. The product isn’t good and I agree with you there. If anything I was more disgusted last season because it felt like there was no plan and Mac Jones was not a quality starter imo. At least now there feels like there’s a plan? I hope? If Maye strikes out though then we’re in deep trouble

This team already has been in "deep trouble" going on three years. But if losing doesn't really bother you I honestly can't say what sort of fan that makes you. Something far less than diehard or passionate, I guess we'd start there.

Let me rephrase. I don’t want to lose but for me it feels like there’s a plan. I can deal with some losing since I was already spoiled with a lot of winning. I’d rather win than lose but there’s nothing I can do to change the current situation. The team has sucked for the last few years but all we can do is hope Maye is the guy or the team are going to be doormats for a long time. Do you think Maye is the guy?

I don’t disagree with a lot of that but my point was I like enjoying wins a lot better than just feeling relieved that we win. They feel more special now. No point living and dying with each game.

it’s week 3. Thats not enough for a trend like that.

Nothing is more important this year than figuring out if the Pats have the right guys in place on their coaching staff and player personnel staff. If they do then we should see things to give us hope for next year even if the win total sucks.

Sure, a team like the Steelers give you a little bit of a sugar high, then back down into the dumpster. Blah blah they haven't had a losing since since...whatever. They are the definition of NFL purgatory.

So the Pats have the 15th draft place back in April. What then? When you are bad, you are bad. Yeah, let's try to get lucky, and you would be watching the same damn stuff right now. Also the slander against Wolf is terrible. Terrible. No LT out there was worth the money they asked for. None.

I would rather them be where they are right now, than be the Steelers. No questions about it.

IMO Maye IS that guy. Now, they need to be smart about his development..
