First off, a quick note to all who passed on their condolences in a post I made a few days back. My father-in-law passed away quite unexpectedly and it's been a whirlwind. We had a great full-family vacation this past summer and everyone was there for Thanksgiving (we celebrate it in October here in Canada). It's been a sad time, but also peaceful as all familial relationships were healthy and no one will harbour any big regrets. So anyway, thanks again guys. You're a classy bunch no matter what fans of crap football teams would say,

Anyway, as I sit today and refocus, skim the forums before catching up on a mound of work, I have a feeling that this Monday night game is going to be amazing and will begin a run of play by this team that will cause a major stir.

It's easy to break down the teams and find the little things that can change the game play, but I think the big one is - and has been - that the Pats have let some teams off the hook and it won't happen anymore. The sour taste of that Colts game will linger a long time, but a lot of what killed us was injuries and easing up on the gas.

The team started to let up in the Jets game a bit, but it didn't go unnoticed and they went for the throat, right up to the last play. Here's my list of "foofy" factors I think will lead to a big win and a streak of total destruction of opponents. I call them foofy factors as they're not stats based, just based on watching the game and picking up the vibe.

  • I think Brady will hit the field that day with a taste for blood he hasn't yet had. The last pass to Randy Moss, though it didn't connect said "screw you all, we're coming after you until the final whistle."
  • Welker demonized the Jets. I mean, they couldn't cover him, a safety has been benched and he frankly embarrassed that defense. No team will even consider putting him in sub-standard coverage again this year.
  • The defensive backfield, even Sanders and Wheatley, is awesome this year. Most teams would kill to have depth players at the level of James and Terrence. Brees throws picks and has careless, jittery first quarters. Even the bad teams have managed to capitalize on this. The Pats will come out shooting, but this week, they'll be re-loading constantly.
  • Laurence is running well and Morris coming back. In a few weeks Taylor will be back too (again, a hunch) and I think Jarvis Green will be back. Every good game we have with top players missing is an indiciation of how amazing this team will be in games where everyone is playing healthy.
  • Derrick Burgess. Just watch, he's coming on stronger every week and this Monday he's going to be eating Brees' lunch.

My prediction (when I'm not trying to win the PTS contest):
Pats: 38
Stains: 20

We like to say this game isn't real important overall, but I think it means EVERYTHING in terms of getting on a roll. We've been sniffing dominance for weeks. Monday we eat it alive and screaming.

Hope springs eternal...
I like your optimism in general and in particular for Derrick Burgess.

Cheers for Pats to administer some cold hard old school football ass kicking in playoff time. That, and the colts making a quick and quiet exist, and toping it off with some more Manning family tradition pauting.

Happy holidays to all.

Re: This Monday marks the return of the Beast from the East.

Agree on all points,JSN,lets hope we see it Monday night!

Re: This Monday marks the return of the Beast from the East.

WOW! That speech fired me up and I'm a Saints fan. Should be a great game Monday.

Ahaha, that IS weird. Yeah, I'm excited for the game. I'm sure the Pats will win, but I could suffer a loss here easier than to the Dolts or almost any other team, because I honestly respect the Saints and the work they've done. No matter the outcome, I doubt anyone will look back and say "well, that was dull."

[*]Welker demonized the Jets. I mean, they couldn't cover him, a safety has been benched and he frankly embarrassed that defense. No team will even consider putting him in sub-standard coverage again this year.

[Warning: you've probably heard a form of this joke before.]

Three cornerbacks were caught snooping around in Gillette Stadium by the Patriots' security forces just before a Patriots game.

They were brought before Bill Belichick. He turned to the first of the cornerbacks, and said, "Choose: Moss, Welker, or death."

The first cornerback quickly replied, "Moss!" Eerily, a cheer went up from the stands.

"Take him away!" yelled Belichick.

The other cornerbacks could hear the cheers of the Patriots fans and the wails of their comrade as Moss embarrassed him.

Belichick returned, and said to the second cornerback, "Choose: Moss, Welker, or death."

The second cornerback thought for a moment, and then said, "Welker!" Eerily, a second cheer went up from the stands.

"Take him away!" yelled Belichick.

The remaining cornerback could hear the cheers of the Patriots fans and the wails of his comrade as Welker embarrassed him.

Belichick returned, and said to the last cornerback, "Choose: Moss, Welker, or death."

The third cornerback thought for a moment, and then said, "Death!" Eerily, an even louder cheer went up from the stands.

Belichick then cackles, "You have chosen death . . . by WELKER'S MINI-ME!"

I can't wait for this game, Brady & Co. are going to come out firing. I hope Bill uses the medias comments that we can't finish games to get our guys pumped for a BIG second half.

Wow JSn, great post! I am ready for some football, a Monday night party!

I hope everything continues to go as well as it can with the family situation.

Well done JSN! I'm sure your level headed optimism was instrumental in helping the family through these difficult times. I also have the feeling that sooner or later Burgess will have a big game.

Alright, I'm WICKED pumped for this game, this day is SLOOOOOOOW.

I almost posted all this stuff again. Who else is excited? Anyone got a motivational speech to tack on here?

Write these names down:

Chung, Butler, Pryor, Burgess, Watson, Bodden

These are tonight's key performers, beside the usual suspects.

I expect a big game from Watson, I think he is key. Faulk also.

I'd love to see Brady go deep to Watson (25 yards or more) early in the game. It would stretch the field and keep the Saints honest regarding Moss and Welker.

42-24 Pats win.

I acutally think the Pats will come out executing and the Saints will be "trying" to execute. The Saints want to win so bad and want to be considered an elite team that they will try too much. As usual the Pats will execute early, develop a two touchdown lead and finish it off. The Pats are way too experienced to lose.

jsn, sorry about your father-in-law.

And thanks for firing everyone up.

excited about the game but frankly wiill be pleasantly surprised if we pull this off. Saints at home in the dome with that offense will be hard for our team to match till the end and we havent had good finishes to the end of the games and starting fast will be harder in the dome with the crowd noise and such..just my opinion
