Patriots Rumor This is why Brady hates the Patriots and Kraft

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Well, Kraft didn't have any other investors at the point Brady bought the Raiders. Not sure about the other owners. Kraft has a lot of sway with them.
wasn't he negotiating at that time to sell 8% of the team?
the other owners rejected Brady (I believe 2 times) due to too low a valuation. they clearly would not have allowed RK to sell low on the Pats

Kraft announced the deal to sell part of the team on September 25th. Brady officially became minority owner of the Raiders three weeks later after trying to get approval for 17 months from the league. So I don’t think Kraft even started to find a buyer until long after Brady agreed to buy part of the Raiders.

But I think Kraft could have gotten an under value deal through a lot sooner than that. But I don’t see Kraft ever leaving that much money on the table even for Jonathan to buy him out. No billionaire business person with a good business sense would.

no one would know the timing of the talks. when they started. if Brady approached RK. we only know the announced agreements, but clearly there was overlap to both teams considering selling off small minority stakes.

we do agree, RK was never going to undervalue the organization when selling. in addition, the valuation needs to pass league/owner scrutiny, and the other owners were never going to allow an under valuation (which is why it took Brady so long to get approved)

Michelangelo sold David short where it counts…
Speaking of statues and Michelangelo...

My wife and our oldest son were both in Italy when they were young. When my son came home he was talking about the statues of Michelangelo and Galileo at dinner and how they were facing each other, like an art vs science thing.

My wife said that she remembered seeing the Michelangelo statue when she was there but not the one for Galileo.

My son said that Galileo probably hadn't died yet when she was there.

Billionaires give billions away every year.
Does that make them "bad" business people?

Cutting a sweetheart deal falls into the same category.

cutting a sweetheart deal, or any sales of an ownership stake, also involves league and owners approval. no one is going to allow a deal that negatively impacts a franchise valuation. that is why it took Brady so long for approval. Davis tried to give him a sweetheart deal. it was voted down

I said billionaires with good business sense. There are billionaires who are idiots like Mark Davis.

And giving away money for charity is not the same thing if that is what you are talking about.

They only way a good business person makes a deal that is financially bad for them like selling a part of the team for a fraction of its worth is because they will make the money in some other way like in a form of a tax write off. Selling Brady a fraction of the team at like 1/5th the value does nothing to help Kraft financially in another way to remotely make back his money.
