This is going to be an easy game...

I doubt the defensive calls were asking for TBC to rush upfield on a running play while Ninkovich was getting washed out on the play.

Blaming the playcalling for the inability of the personnel to stop simple cutback runs is about as bright as starting a thread claiming that the game is going to be easy.

I guess I'm two for two on bad calls.

My take on the adjustments was just my gut reaction after the game. But I'm not sure what your deal is... I've actually backed you up a few times when AndyJohnson starts spouting about the x's and o's and how the Patriots are a few adjustments away from domination.

I'm actually taking Belichick at face value. The Pats got outplayed AND outcoached. They looked unprepared, with defenders and WRs scrambling around all day. They never came up with an answer for Hills, and they never got pressure on McCoy. Players, bad. Coaching, bad. Which was worse? Definitely the players.

What surprises me is that other than Ice Ice, everyone had this game pegged as a trap game, including the Patriots who reportedly put in long days of practice on Friday.

Its disappointing that the Patriots didn't execute better.

I'm not saying that the coaching was perfect. It never is. However, BB points to coaching after every loss. It's S.O.P. The team could play the equivalent '85 Bears without Brady, and with an offensive line of yellow cones and lose 3-0, and BB would still talk about needing to coach better.

This team has a huge hole on the D-line, two holes against the run at OLB, two holes against the pass at ILB and, specific to this game, was missing Chung, had a CB problem with McCourty getting smoked, lost its kicker, and had a rookie TE wetting himself all game.

Pretty tough to overcome all that when your best wide receiver is clearly struggling to come back from injury and is being double teamed, your best "deep" threat isn't a "deep" threat, and your other WR option is as gimpy as a recent post-op hip replacement recipient.

Here's an example:

4th Quarter

1st down
Hills runs up the middle for 5 yards
2nd down
Hills runs a sweep to the outside; no one there. Huge gain.

Like I said, it's more on the players, but you'd think they would have seen that coming.

Every single instance here is more on execution than play calling. Those sweeps to the outside were largely a result of our OLB's getting completely sealed from the play.

I am drunk. I finally got home to a computer. Instead of going to bed i logged into this forum, found this thread, just to say **** YOU to the bro who started it for jinxing the pats. I knew it as soon as this thread was started. seriously **** you bro.

While there are plenty of reasons to say that to him, I'm not sure superstition ranks high among them.

Aw come on. Try not to get this emotional however embarassing the loss is and take it out on the fans who were far more optimistic and gutsy to post their prediction. (I refuse to believe your claim that you were drunk; post is too coherent for it. )

Some of the fans like me worried about the game given Mangini's knowledge of us and the fact that he had a week to prepare, but were optimistic thinking that we will come out with a hard fought W. Didn't expect to be blown out this way.

Here's hoping that we bounce back for the next game.

I noticed that with Cunningham a lot yesterday. On many big runs he seemed to be either sealed in or sealed out. The D rookies got a heckuvan education in that game, and I'm sure BB has plenty of teaching material to show them. If they learn from this game, it could all be better in the long run.

Well, I'm not gonna wade through this very long thread to verify, but I assume the OP got blasted left & right for it.

And he should. It's really not "optimistic and gutsy" to start a thread saying the game would be easy, it's just silly. Number one, it was hugely & horrifically wrong, but even if it didn't turn out that way the premise was foolish, because you never know when a game will be easy, particularly with a young/incomplete team like this.

Better just to let the thread drop now....
