You're an annoying troll.
I really guess it depends on who you ask.

Id never make this blanket statement about the Patriots.

It's alright pherein, the regulars know what you're about as you've proven yourself over time here.

Although a few of Ausbacker's posts have made me dislike him, he's right pherein.

Also, pherein, take note that this is coming from someone who lived in New Orleans for the last six years and experienced first hand what the team was like in recent years:

They've been consistent on offense for a few years. However, looking at this season ALONE, they've been inconsistent.
Truth is, they have a good chance of winning every game they play this season, but the way they've been playing, you don't know if you're going to get the offense that played against the browns or the offense that played against the steelers.
I'm not insulting the team, I have nothing against the Saints. I'm just saying that
a) this team is no where near as consistent as it was last year.
b) this team doesn't show up to some games at all.

That being said, we are overreacting about the Browns, guys.
They beat the Saints.
But look at all the other horrible teams that have come within 3 points or beaten the Saints.
The 49ers.
The Cardinals.
The Panthers.

We shouldn't be this scared of a browns team just because they beat a normally great team that's been inconsistent so far this season.

Good thread, backed up with facts. An interesting hypothesis.:rocker:

I also am a fan of unconventional thinking.

Hope youre right.

I think insulting the Saints is exactly what you are trying to do. Excuse my forwardness. Of course thats your right, its your board.

Yes, we we have stubbled this year, but the Saints body of work has beens amazing sense 2006.

Hey, the Saints partied their ass off all Spring and Summer. A post-Super Bowl hangover is a fine thing. That team did so much to shed its history and pick up millions of people from the Katrina disaster, they deserve a break. The Pats had enjoyed lots of success over the decades to offset the really awful years, but nothing approached the Aints never ending saga of being a doormat. All of that is in the rearview and as long as Brees and Payton are there, the Saints will be a factor in the NFC.

That said, if the Pats get the Aints in the Super Bowl, Belicihick will crush you like a grape!

The Browns is undeniably, totally and completely a trap game. The definition of a trap game is one a team should definitely win with some much tougher more meaningful game(s) ahead. This is a game the Pats need in the W column. The Browns mean nothing. Who cares if they win or lose? They are not going to the playoffs. They're not in the Pats' division and Eric Mangini is enjoying his last season in the NFL before he becomes a tenured professor at the University of Phoenix School of Ingratitude and Rat-Snitchery.

Be afraid at 1 pm today. Be very afraid.

everygame is a trap game with a young team. I expect every team in the NFL to be a major challenge. Look at Detroit, they're pretty competitive. I didn't think the Raiders would win more than two games. This year even more so than others there is major parody. And we need to remember that this is an extremely yooung team

I hope you're right, but I disagree. I agree it is NOT a trap game, I just think this is a tough one to win. Browns have given some good teams a hard time, it's a road game, and the rivalry factor with Manboobs/BB lead me to believe it could be a dogfight.

Our offense since the trade has been satisfactory but I don't see it blowing any team out the water. If we have a Miami type game where we get TD's from defense/special teams then yes. But I don't see us dominating this game in all phases. I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

Also pherein is far from a troll, I've never seen him start any sort of trouble here and I respect his views. I think you've got him misunderstood.

.. You're an annoying troll.

Nope, you are wrong about this and probably typed it instantly after reading the response.

Getting back to the OP, I believe this will be a tough game more because of Mangini, his knowledge of us, and his extra week of preparation to outfox our O.

Hope I am wrong and you are right.

GO PATS!!

Well we're screwed thanks for this **** thread!

It's not karma. I just don't understand why people adopt the team's mantra. Why should we take it one game at a time? To my knowledge, nobody here plays for the Patriots. To my knowledge, nobody here is even on their payroll. Fans have the ability to look ahead to future games which appear to be tougher on paper. It's the TEAM that should take it one game at a time.

It's all about our collective thoughts and hopes and prayers and wishes lifting the team to a higher place. Yeah yeah yeah, I know... :bricks:

But I kind of like the fans adopting that attitude too. It's like how the players adopt the personality of the head coach, and so do the fans. Jets fans are loud and confident even when they have no reason to be. Vikings fans are lost and clueless but too afraid to admit it. And Pats fans are methodical, analytical, focused on the task at hand.

As for the Saints, I wouldn't call it inconsistency so much as getting everyone's best game. When you're the champs, everyone circles that game on the calendar months in advance. In 2002, after we won our first Super Bowl, we were 3-4 at one point, struggling to finish 9-7 and just out of the play-offs. It's not easy being the champs, and that's not to make excuses. But the Saints are 5-3 and a half game out of first in their tough division. They're continuing to battle, which they need to do.

BB touched on this "inconsistency" issue that all teams face during one of this week's pressers and how it's just part of the game:

BB: No, you know, we talk about that a lot. Sometimes it has been in reverse too, where things have been good in the first half and for whatever reason, we aren't as productive in the second half and vice-versa. So, our goal is to be productive through four quarters. We are always working on that. We talk about it. And you are right; we have had probably a little more production in the second half of some games this year, but certainly not all of them. If I could, I'd bottle it and do it all four quarters. That is what we are trying to do, but for some reason, and I think you probably see that with most teams, it is just not the same every week. But that's football. You are up against another very competitive team that is well-coached, has a lot of good players - they know what they're doing. You know, you are trying to give them problems; they are trying to give them to you. It sways back and forth. That's the way most games in this league are. Even a lot of times when teams get ahead, the other team ends up catching up or vice-versa. Games that are close, you see how many close games there are, last week almost every game came down to last the possession - all but one of them, whatever it was - so, you know, that is the NFL. You are going to have a lot of close games and be in a lot of tough situations. Sometimes that ebb and flow comes by halves, by quarters, but it seems like it is there most of the time and you gotta be able to ride it out.

Bill Belichick Press Conference - 11/1/2010

Nice post, and thanks for humbling me for the game tomorrow. Perhaps my thread title was misleading. I don't expect the Patriots to win by a huge margin, I'd just be very surprised if they lost the game. It has less to do with the Patriots, who I believe have a lot of room for improvement. The Browns are not a good team and lack the play makers to make me believe they are capable of winning this game, short of some kind of very unexpected twist. I think the Patriots win this game 19 times out of 20, especially with their chemistry right now.

I agree, I'd be very surprised if we lost this game. But it could be close is all.

While Cleveland is only 2-5, all 5 losses are to 5-2 teams. And of those, only Pittsburgh beat them by more than 10 points. So a close game isn't out of the question.

Of course I hope I'm wrong and we destroy them.

did you see what the browns did to the Saints 2 weeks ago? now a bye week to prepare for mangini to defeat his former mentor? I'm very confident they will win, but dont get ahead of yourself here.

Lol @ this thread. I think we are over-thinking this game. We have beat arguably the league's best offenses and defenses in a "transition" year for the Pats. I haven't seen this much talk and spatter in any of the other pre-game threads, surprised to see this much for the Browns. I think it'll be a good game, hard fought but the better team will win, nuff said.

I wonder if someone made a thread like this on the Saints board before there game against the Browns, there's too much parity in the NFL to think that any game is easy....

The Browns have played better than their record. I don't think this will be an easy game, but I don't think the Pats lose unless they beat themselves.

I think that is going to be just the opposite; a very difficult game:

The Brownies have had a lot of time to prepare and Mangini knows the system. In addition the Patriots have no deep threat and Haden will be able to blanket Tate allowing Mangini to send a lot of guys on Brady and cover the short stuff.

The Patriots are overconfident and the Browns are hungry; watch out.

Easy eh? Care to re-phrase that?

Maybe a game that is easy to get trapped by...

Thread of the year candidate here.

**** this stupid thread.
