BB has got to be one of the most mentally tough people on the face of this planet. Coaching an NFL team for 10 years is difficult enough, but to weather all the negativity and controversy he's endured without losing composure publicly, this man must have nerves of steel. I can only assume he does a good job of insulating himself from all the nonsense when he's not in public. Or maybe he screams like a madman behind closed doors and has a dartboard with photos of Goodell, Dungy, Tom Jackson, etc. We've seen him lose it with refs a few times on the sidelines, and he's gotten choked up in a couple press conferences (Bruschi, etc.). But, damn -- his powers of self-restraint amaze me.

Life is very challenging for anyone who is not an idiot. You're hopelessly outnumbered. BB handles it well.

I just think he knows that he's smarter than most people when it comes to football, especially the media. He doesn't let negativity bother him because he knows he'll be fine. That, and letting his emotions getting the best of him won't help anything.

You know, it just occurred to me that I could probably do a pretty good job as well of ignoring naysayers for $5 million a year. You could afford one hell of a headshrink for one thing. But still ...

His stoicness and brilliance are two of the traits I admire most... to be able to focus well on the task at hand without distraction is beyond what usually occurs.

Yes Coach is a role model to us all, in good times and in bad times. Well at least for me he is. but hey , it is what it is right!!!!

It probably gets easier when you're insulated in a town that (mostly) loves you as well.

It's easy to stand in opposition to a lot of ignorant voices when you know you're right. In fact, the hard part would be backing down.

For all the flak he took over going for that 4th and short, he refused to budge, refused to back down, and didn't waver in front of the media afterwards. He stuck by what he did.

I thank the Lord we have that kind of coach, someone who has real cojones.

Do you really say 'Thank you baby Jesus for giving us Bill Belichick as our head coach, amen.' every night kneeling by your bedside?

Cause that would rule if you did.

Amen! (12 characters)

He's a real life Howard Roark

That's likely the most profound thing I've heard anyone say this whole year. Makes me and at the same time. Well done, sir!

Sayings like that are especially poignant when you realize that most polls done on the topic indicate that close to 85% of us think we're in the top half of our population in terms of intelligence.

So one out of every three people is not near as smart as they think they are.

You need to think a certain way to be this successful. Sometimes is doesn't work, but the great majority of the time it does. Shortly after Belichick's controversial "overly aggressive" call, **** Jauron, the league's most conservative and timid coach, got fired for years of underachievement.

One negative result is a tiny and insufficient sample pool on which to judge a strategic philosophy. I would think that almost 10 years of coaching dominance would prevent mediots from their sensationalism.

There'sa method to his madness. He knows how to work it. Each time Pats have that "Back Our Coach At All Times" mentality It's definitely is a motivational tool. Many coaches would love to do what BB does but they don't have BIG B_ _LS to pull trigger.

IN BILL I TRUST

his Stoicism reminds me of my dad's...... not at all concerned w/ onlookers and critics.... but BB handles himself so well uinder scrutiny.

mad respect

Better than saying "Please, baby Jesus, strike down Eric Ratgini with a bolt of lightning" every night kneeling by my bedside in Cleveland, huh?

So that means the other 2/3 of us are even smarter than we imagined.
