Summarizing the article:

The Patriots are the 13th team to reach the Super Bowl while improving their win percentage by .300 or more (~5 games). However, they are by far the most unique team among those 13.

  • The most new players (66%)
  • The most starts from new players (55%)
  • First in percentage of total player Approximate Value from new players
  • The lowest total percentage from the top 10 players (i.e., most balanced, rather than driven by one or two stars)
The 2021 Bengals were the next closest team in all of these categories.

On the other hand, their big signings last year (Williams, Diggs, Davis, Landry) account for much more of the Patriots' cap (35%) than the Bengals' top four did (20%).

Also, Vrabel is the only new coach to do it. Eight of the other twelve did it in year two or three; the other four in year four or five.

It'll be fascinating to see where this team goes from here.

You can find the full article, if you dare, here. [Warning: it starts with talking about the Seachickens.]

As Maye said in his presser Seattle is the standard they have to reach. They were the best team in football and deserved the Lombardi. I love what the Patriots accomplished this season, and I'm really excited about their future. I think this offseason will be strong, and all of the experience the rookies got is going to pay off big time for them going forward.

Okay, that's what we aspire to

Would love a rematch ending in a thorough kicking of their butts and a Drake Maye payback no-handshake when their guy is feeling like absolute dogshlitz.

Just being salty, and realizing we hadn't whined about the not-handshake

I am just sick of the long-standing deeply held angst against teams losing in the Super Bowl. The focus on claiming that they choked, they had an awful season, they need to tear the roster down, they aren't ready for the big stage, etc. As if 30 other teams were better for not having gotten to the big show and lost. I saw countless posts and memes about how the Patriots now have more Super Bowl losses than anyone else. News flash- every team that didn't get there had an outcome worse than a super bowl loss. We've been to 10 Super Bowls and won 6 since the last time the Dolphins even won a single playoff game. There's much to build on here.

I give Darnold a pass on the non-handshake. It's absolute chaos at that time. It's not a regular season game, which is chaotic enough. I get the saltiness, bud, but it was a new experience to Darnold as well.

I'm ok with it.

Been to more than everyone, so naturally they are going to win/lose more than everyone. It's a non-news story IMO. I saw Shefty posted it, and I thought that was a tell that he's got a little anti-Pats bias as well.

Oh me too, in reality. I just saw that I hadn't seen anything. If anything, that's the mark of a fanbase of a team that's been there before. Imagine Buffalo in the parallel situation.

Vrable and his staff are the reason

The Patriots have been to 12/60 Superbowls and have won 6/60 of them.
So they’ve been to 1 in 5 and have won 1 in 10, which is a 50% win rate.

I’m sure there must be some teams that are 1 for 1 with a 100% win rate, but is that really better?
