I am not at all ready to stand pat with our secondary.
Consider this:
Corner
Samuel
Hobbs
Gay injured again
Scott injured again, both were last year
Poteat shouldnt be on the field except on sts or the dime.
Troy Brown will be playing D again, and we will be plucking corners off the street.
With Harrison and Scott part of the S mix, there is injury risk there too. Harrison is coming off a severe injury, and Scott has never been healthy.
I expect a veteran corner signed. And I expect a corner drafted on day 1.
Then I will feel better.
Some of our corners can also provide safety depth.
I think we need to go to camp with a MINIMUM of 7 corners capable of making the team.
After the last 2 years, it wouldnt bother me at all if we kept 6 conrers on the 53.
So, Andy, let me get this straight. You expect Gay and chad Scott to be injured again just because they were injured last year? That doesn't sound like very good thinking. Its not like they have a history of always being injured ala Adrian Klemm or Guss Scott.
Do I think that the Pats will bring in 2-3 more DBs for TC? Yep. Do I think they might draft a corner? Yep. Is it an absolute? Nope. The reason I think they might draft a corner is because I am not sure they are sold on Asante as a starter. Personally, I would rather them switch Asante and Eugene. I think that Asante has shown skills that would make him a much better Safety than he is a corner. He'd be great against the slot receivers.
