The Patriots first 4 picks this year will be...

In the first round I'm guessing OT and WR mainly due to their escalating FA prices so to gain that extra contract year.

Unless BC's LB Landry is still on the board.

Interesting draft gamesmanship by BB by jumping ahead 0f Titans #25 needing a LB and Ravens #26 needing a WR.

OT possibly - not only to the current uncertainty, but Cannon turns 30 this year.

WR with a 1st seems highly doubtful to me. Should be a lot of at least Hogan/Mitchell types still available in the 3rd and even later with the depth of this WR class.

the four finest defenders available.

Very good work sir. Lot of effort. Interesting:

May I try one no trade and one with? including explanations on some:

#23 Vander Esch LB Boise Speed and coverage ability. (The Cooks trade jumped Steelers who would have a need for this versatile LB). Perhaps the reason to do the trade?

#31 Taven Bryan DL Florida Penetrating O lineman who can dominate. Can also play Richard Seymouresque type DE. This is a best-player-available pick.

#43 Dallas Goedert TE S.D. State How good can he be in the NFL?

#63 Martinas Rankin OT Mississippi St. . Rated top LT in SEC last year

#95 Lauletta QB Richmond makes sense

#194 Holton Hill CB Texas. Length at 6'2", Length, speed, ball skills and first round talent, but is a knucklehead

#210 Jack Cichy ILB Wisconsin. ACL recovery. Top 50 prospect when healthy. We made a trip to Wisconsin to see him. Can sack. Can cover 7.08 3 cone. Bruschi size 6'1" and 238 with perhaps more speed.

#219 Daurice Fountain Northern Iowa WR. 6'2" 210 4.47 speed. Punt return ability. Watch his East West Bowl Game as MVP. Sleeper!

Do you see Lauletta developing into a potential starter?
I think given the option between him and Mike White that be a tough one?
Also in this mock was Rudolph or Jackson avaialable at 43 at all?

I like the idea of taking Taven Bryan but I am just wondering what his real function in year one would be? Definitely his alike to Seymour and also we do not know what is Malcolm Brown future. Will the Pats use its fifth year option or maybe let Brown walk away. Following the second option drafting Bryan makes a lot of sense to me .BB loves versatile players as we know well and Bryan could be used as a DE in some situation. I know we have Shelton,Valentine,Guy as well but Bryan option is quiet tempting.

Now I will take a stab at top picks with trades and finish the mock Cousins:

#23 Vander Esch LB Boise Speed and coverage ability. (The Cooks trade jumped Steelers who would have a need for this versatile LB). Perhaps the reason to do the trade?

#31 TRADE to Broncos plus sixth round pick #210 in exchange for Broncos picks #40 in round 2, pick #99 in Round 3, pick #163 in Round 5 and QB Paxton Lynch (Why!!! He's young. Great arm. Lynch is not dumb even at mediocre 18. Wonderlic better than
Dan Marino 16
Terry Bradshaw 16
Jim Kelly 15
Randall Cunningham 15
Donovan McNabb 14
Lamar Jackson 13

Lynch's stats match Rosen to a "T". He's had NFL experience (beat the Jags) and in this Trade it is not costing a thing to see if Josh can straighten the kid out as the Broncos GM put the kid in a rotational bad decision. Needs more reps. Big QB. Needs more Team structure and dedication to his craft. Might be a superb value. Inconsistent. Takes too many sacks (bad o line). Can scramble but moves feet in pocket more. First round pick. Was injured in training camp and left out to dry. GM admits not helping. He's too interested in veteran QB's and has no patience. Head coach is a defensive coach. Develop this kid and Elway will be green. Go Josh! Chance to get back at ponies.

The Broncos ironically use pick #31 for Lamar Jackson QB Louisville. Their offense is based on QB movement with Case Keenam a roll out QB. So the offensive fit is there.

The Pats Trade Chart value is 607 and the Broncos is 626 with Lynch as the throw in. If the Pats can get something out of Lynch, he might be QB material here or trade bait.

#40 Dallas Goedert TE S.D. State How good can he be in the NFL?

#43 Sam Hubbard DE Ohio State

#63 Martinas Rankin OT Mississippi St. . Rated top LT in SEC last year

#95 Arden Key Edge LSU. Huge gamble but stud if he clicks

#99 TRADE to Rams for 2019 2nd round. Rams Draft is depleted. At 9 picks we add for the future.

#163 Justin Watson WR Penn. (Sleeper TB favorite? Hands and runs patterns at 6'2" and 4.47 speed)

#198 TRADE to Eagles for Mychal Kendricks OLB. We have the CAP space. Will be maybe our best LB in 2018.

#219 Logan Woodside QB Toledo. All MAC first Team and MAC Player of the Year. 24 td's in 2017 and over 10,000 yards a school record. 65.6% completion record is 3rd in MAC history.Athletic. Baker Mayfield size at 6'1". Yep 1" shorter than Jimmy G. Understands coverage and fast release.

I think a lot of those mocks in this thread are unrealistic. No was Goedert last to pick 40 and Hubbard lasts to 43.

My hope is 1st round is all D Would love:

23: Vander Esche
31: Hubbard or Landry (though I think Landry goes top 20).

Two young fierce defensive studs.

2nd round, I’d like an offense impact player (QB, RB, WR or TE) and an Olineman.

That being said, I have a feeling Belichick trades all over the draft board.

That's TOO many picks, as a strategy. This isn't some kind of rebuild, this is a rework contending team. I was OK with m0ving from 31 to 38 and picking up an additional pick, but the other 4 trades are overkill. Let them wind up with 7 picks, with 5 being in the first in the first 3 rounds, plus the UDFA that will make the squad as usual and that will be fine rookie class.

The key for the Pats ,imho, is not that just add rookies, but QUALITY rookies, and with their current draft picks they can do that this season.

1-23: R. Evans LB
1-31: K. Miller LT
2-11: R. Green DE
2-31: K. Lauletta QB

But...I think Belichick trades back 2x. He moves back a few spots from 23 to between 27 -30 and picks up a 3rd rounder. He moves 2nd round 11 back to later in the 2nd and picks up an early 4th rounder.

Lauletta.... would be the worst decision ever. Does not have a good enough arm to be an nfl qb. Cannot make the necessary throws

Probably a career clip board holder.

Lauletta kinda reminds me of Drew Brees minus the arm strength. I don't know if he can strengthen that but he won't have the pressure of starting right away if we take him. He has the Navy connection and football family pedigree. He seems like a locker room guy and handles media well. I won't be upset if we take him.

I don't think he'll go in the 2nd. Maybe 3rd. But who knows.

He’s got a bigger noodle arm than Pennington. Can’t fix that

1/23 LB Vander Esch
1/31 DE Hubbard
2/11 OT Miller
2/31 QB Mason Rudolph

My first thought when i read his scouting report was Chad Pennington. From what i remember Pennington did everything really well but didn't have the greatest arm. But im sure bb could win with him.
