The offical Patriots vs Saints preseason game thread

I made a sarcastic reply to his knee jerk reaction to Fletcher going down. Not that serious. But it's cute how you came to his defense.

You kept on about it. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. Now, back to the game.

Can anybody recall the last time a rookie(defense) looked this impressive(this early)?

nothing from hightower yet..but he has more to worry about than jones.

D still looks very good...O..not so much but it's preseason

He's playing spy, doing a fantastic job freeing up Mayo too.

Bolden ahead of Vereen? Interesting....

Initial reactions:

Chandler Jones - OUTSTANDING

Danta Hightower - not so much - He looks very tentative so far.

agreed - and chung is beginning to anoy me

The back up offense was rather unimpressive.

If they called that series in a regular season game I'd be livid.

Re: Patriots Rookie Watch

-Chandler Jones playing in 3 point and 2 point stance. He's looking a bit fatigued already. Needs to work on conditioning. No question about it anymore, he will be a starter week 1.

-Donta Hightower started, but hasn't made a play yet

-Mayo with great coverage so far. Probably his biggest area of improvement since coming to the NFL. He's stopped a couple passes to Sproles and just tipped a pass the led to an INT.

-Steven Gregory made the INT after Mayo tipped it.

Maroney looked awesome the first few games.

(Oops, just realized you meant defense --- hey, it's preseason...)

Thank goodness it's preseason because this O-line scares me to death.

Our offense looks extremely average. Our defense looks very impressive. Is it opposite day!?

I'm with NUT, try and spend some time tonight looking at the positives and take tonight's game for what it is - a glorified practice. The real benefit is that for those of us who haven't been to camp yet, we finally get to see some of these guys get some reps in live game action. Needless to say try and enjoy it, because it means the season is that much closer

But.. But.. But.. IAN.. We're Boston fans.. If we do that, we'd have nothing to whine about until the next game...

Man, calling this offense uninspired would be too generous.

So far it's obvious why BB moved up to grab Jones :singing:

The O line is the problem. No where to run and no time to throw...I repeat...Mankins, Vollmer and Waters...please come back soon!!!

Yep, maybe the biggest tea leaves to read so far.

I don't know about that. Looks like Bolden kinda choked in the spotlights. He has reportedly been great in practice.
