I may be late to the party, but I saw a blurb in my MSN feed that CGonzalez has been ruled out. I thought that would have been front page news here.
Actually, I feel better, and I think it's the right thing to do long term. Think about it. It's been almost 2 months since he's played a full speed snap and Hammy's are pretty tricky. Best all around he come back NEXT week, than risk having it be an issue all year.
I've only had it happen to me once, and that was when I was playing in a very competitive tag league with the C's front office in the mid 80's. Happened while I was punting no less. (it was my one perk) Ironically I felt it go upon landing after hitting my best kick of the year. A 50 yd perfect spiral. I was enjoying the view and then TWANG. I landed and crumpled to the ground, my season ended.
It was AWFUL. It was the worst injury of my sports career and it took FOREVER to get over with setbacks a frequent partner. Now I AM the guy who plays with the bad sprain, or the sore knee, etc. But that hamstring is different. It isn't just about dealing with the pain. It's about not knowing what you can do or how far you can move. Doing the same thing doesn't necessarily get you the same result. Step "this way" one time and it's fine, step the same way next time and there's a twinge.
Calling someone soft for any injury is a coward's response, especially given what they do, and all they HAD to do to get where they are, these men are NOT soft, and I would dare those to tell them to their faces (which we know is never happening, so forget I mentioned it.)
OK Rant over. Gonzo's out and we'll see how well they deal with it. We'll start this conversation all over again on Monday (more likely Sunday evening)
