I will say this, however: weed is more of a nuisance vs motor skills than it is vs re-cognitive thinking, such as studying for an exam or, in my case back in the day for example, troubleshooting gear, just so long as one is not attempting to learn something for the first time, such as a New England Patriots playbook. Nowadays if I get baked before I post, I find that I've made more typing errors than I would if I didn't get baked, but otherwise my thought processes are the same as far as my ability, such as it may be, to form them in a manner I want to translate to keyboard is concerned...if that makes any sense.
Tomorrow's breaking news: Gordon found high with Chris Hogan in the Gilette bathroom: Bill's crazy risk destroys his culture from within.
uh...no
I think that those who point out "it's not 2013 anymore" and that's he's 27 have a point, but at the same time, the fact that he's barely played also kind of reduces his "NFL age" in a sense. A guy who was an elite athletic talent lighting up the league at 22 years old, who goes on to play very little the following 5 years - not due to any injury at all - should theoretically still be extremely fresh. He's not 22 anymore, but he's not 27 in "NFL years" either, necessarily. Does that make sense? I feel like I'm talking about a dog...
It's kinda felt like he's started becoming a bit of a contrarian/sensationalist lately in an effort to make himself relevant. That's just how it's appeared to me. A few years ago he seemed like a really good resource but not anymore.
Anyway....were not talking about an old guy..IMO 27 is an ideal NFL age for experience and premium physical attributes.
Uh, Lombardi knows that the saying is past performance is not an indicator of future results, right?
I mean, this guy was employed by NFL teams as a general manager... well, it's no wonder that's no longer the case.
"In scouting the first rule you have to understand is past performance predicts future achievement."
I dont know what the hell happened to Lombardi. Starting a couple years ago, he's about as reliable as felger.
I never waste my time reading him anymore. He was useful once. Now he sucks.
He has always been inverting that saying when he was talking about NFL scouting (or college scouting) on purpose.
So that's why you are missing the "no" in there. Now whether you agree or not is a different situation but looking at how players get evaluated it is hard for me to disagree with this notion.
Now the head scratcher for me is where the "always" came from in the paragraph from the tweet. Which makes it obviously ********.
That being said I can only recommend his new book Gridiron Genius. A lot of amazing insight into BB and Bill Walsh (and others).
Yeah this guy's a moron, the whole point is that it's a fallacy to think past performance predicts future results. It's often helpful contextually but there's never a guarantee. This is why he's spitting his ******** on Twitter rather than still employed in putting together awful Browns teams.
I completely disagree about him being a moron. To me he is among the most insightful national guys we have when he doesn't talk about rumors but about scouting details (e.g. recently about the importance of the second step for TEs) ect.
That being said the "always" makes the paragraph you posted absolute garbage and idiotic. But if that word was replaced by "best indicator" as it often is when he is using that sentence then I find it hard to disagree. What else than the past performance do you have to judge football players ?
I am not sure I can count the number of wrong things he has said on one hand so am not sure why you think he is not reliable. But please refresh my memory.
I love getting blotto and I'm one of the most responsible people in my house. I'm sure this is going to work out great!
(I really do but I'm a strangely optimistic person.)
I'm a 4.7 index golfer and I have noticed that my swing is good after drinking a beer or 2... Skiing I've noticed my legs are relaxed and I'm comfortable after a couple one hitters. Riding my motorcycle the combination of adrenaline and alcohol is very good mix since the attention is 110% at 110mph.
Athletic performance requires combo of relaxed muscles and mental focus. The fact that JG apparently achieved his with his own formula and then was honest about it is ok.. it's just he's got to evolve. Learn new ways to relax.. get Alex Guerrero working with him... Lol.
