I really can't think of a team that won more from like the 80's to now... Maybe the Cowboys?

Spurs won five in 15 years too. I think it's "easier" to go on such runs in the NBA, where one great player can make so much more of a difference.

Alabama football has 5 titles since 2009. But it's much easier to dominate in college as you can keep recruiting studs every year.

Yep, cant compare the sports at all imo. Nba doesn’t even have a strict salary cap, just pay some luxury tax or something if you go over. So much easier to build and maintain a champion. In the nfl you cant build a ‘big 3 ‘ With 1 or 2 fa signings and automatically be a powerhouse. Plus playoffs are not one and done, you can have an off day and have plenty chances to make up for it.

Yes. NE has done this twice over the span of 2 decades. Even btw 2005-2013 when they didn’t win the SB, they were ALWAYS in contention.

Islanders and Canadians won 4 straight Cups in the 70s and 80s respectfully

Oilers won 5 Cups in 7 years in the 80s and 1990 on w/o Paulina's dad

Bulls won six (Including two threepeats) in eight years. They would've won 8 straight had Jordan not retired after 93 for a few years. None of the Bulls Finals trips went to a game 7.

I don't really consider the Spurs a "Dynasty". They won a title in 99. Then it took four years to win their next one (03). Then it was two years (05), and two more years (07), for their next two. They never repeated once. That disqualifies them immediately imo. Great run? Sure. Dynasty? No.

Warriors will be one after they win this year's title. Three straight. Four in five years.

Yeah. There is a killer parochial high school girls lacrosse team by me.

Manchester United. Hate to say it as a Liverpool fan.

The Pats dynasty is unique in that it has lasted so long and they were never usurped as the top "program" in the league for the past 18 years. There have been a couple individual teams that were better but none of them were ever consistent enough to maintain it. The fact that the Pats have won 16 of 18 division titles, gone 29 - 10 in the playoffs and been in 13 of 18 AFCCG with 9 Super Bowls is unprecedented in a league with a hard cap. The Spurs and 49ers runs were the most similar due to length but in the midst of both they had been surpassed by another dynasty in the Lakers & the Cowboys.

There have been several teams whose peak was just as good (if not slightly better) but none that had anywhere near the length.

they were ALWAYS in contention.

Oh, that's the prompt for my annual mention of my favorite Pats stat:
After their game of Dec. 30, 2000, the Patriots have been in contention for a championship at the start of every single game since then. Every game.
Yes, including 2002 and 2008.

Each decade has had an NFL dynasty. The patriots have been the dynasty for the first 2 decades of this century (2001-2010 and 2011-2018).

40's Bears
50's Browns
60's Packers
70's Steelers
80's 49ers
90's Cowboys
00's Patriots
10's Patriots

Well my lifetime is a bit longer. I would have to include the Celtics, 11 in 13 years with Bill Russell, a couple more with D Cowans and then the Bird era.

Best in my lifetime. 13 AFCCGs, 9 SBs and maybe 6 titles after today? I can't think of any other team that had that kind of run.

Regards,
Chris

I respect the Spurs a lot. They’ve been a great team for the NBA over the years. Also super lucky to have David Robinson injured the season before Tim Duncan came out. No way they qualify for the lottery had he played.

I’d say this dynasty ranks right up there with the best you can think of. Certainly the best the NFL has seen.
