The draft

As I said in my post.. "I do not have any idea if Ettling has a future in the NFL, but we will know more come training camp."

The point being is that BB and his staff have a better idea as to what the Pats have , but fans rely on speculation and the belief that he is not an NFL QB.. stay tuned.

Their speculation that Etling sucks is well-founded. He was totally mediocre in college, was a late draft pick, and didn't do anything against third stringers last year to build confidence.

If the Giants pass on Haskins twice then you have to have an answer why. I’ve heard the chatter here in NY, do not know if it’s real. I’m way ok with your 3rd or 4th round selections.

I don’t really understand your point. Do you mean that the Giants passing on him twice in the first round means that he’s not worthy of pick 32? That would mean that teams in general, and Gettleman in particular, never miss on their evaluation of quarterback prospects. League and Gettleman history argue strongly against that. I’m sure that BB and co. closely monitor the “chatter in New York” when putting together the draft board.

Sigh. Everyone misses on QBs. I don’t think any QB in this draft should be the first draft pick of the NE Patriots unless they trade back mid 2nd round.

The only value I see in Haskins is in the second round, I think the first is too high for him but I’m certain someone will trade up into the late first round and take him. He’ll be the 4th QB off the board after Murray, Lock and Jones.

Not a chance

Gettleman has lost his mind if he takes jones at 6 over Haskins. They need a pass rusher. Their line is an absolute mess. Then they should either trade the 17th for a package that includes a first next year or draft oline in my opinion.

Patriots are throwing so many smoke screens out there.
I think they like Tyree Jackson they saw what Mahommes can do and Jackson and Lock are the only QBs In this draft with that kind of Arm.
I read a report that said in 2 to 3 years could be very special well there you go.
That lines up perfectly.
One report I read said Jones had the worst arm in the draft that terrifies me.

My advice.

Trade down.

Haskins absolutely should be if available at 32.

This is the man who traded OBJ and kept Eli. His mind is long since gone.

Food for thought:

What NBC Sports Boston's Phil Perry found, based on prior drafts, is that the Patriots have typically drafted quarterbacks who played in Power 5 conferences, stood 6-foot-3 or taller, spent four years in college, had a career TD-to-INT ratio of around 2.2-to-1, with a yards per attempt of 7.5 or better, and a completion percentage of at least 60 percent.

The one QB who checks all the boxes is Finley.
