The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

It does exist -- an anatomical rarity. And one doesn't realize it 'til you've experienced enough of them through decades. In my case her name was Sarah and that was 40-plus years ago. "Unique" doesn't begin to describe it.
And so it goes….

Do it again !!! More !! More !!

This was similar to Joe Montana/Steve Young, Brett Favre/Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love/Aaron Rodgers. Even though Tom is the GOAT, so is father time. However, Bill was seriously off his rocker after the 2013 season thinking Tom was "falling off the cliff" and needed to be convinced then not to trade him. Tom had two rookies starting on the outside (who flamed out of the league), Edelman and Amendola taking over for Welker and only Gronk because Hernandez got arrested. Pats had Emmanuel Sanders signed to an offer sheet, but the Steelers being the assholes they are, only matched it at the 11th hour to mess with the Pats.

Drafting Jimmy G in 2014 was an idiotic use of draft capital, much like it was in 2008 when Bill used a 3rd rounder on Kevin O'Connell when your QB just put up historic numbers.

With that said, the Pats wouldn't have done much with Tom between 2020-2022. Probably 9-10 win seasons, but a quick playoff exit.
But Brady would have finished his NFL career here (just as Belichick did) and wouldn't have more SB wins than the Pats.

Funny, try reading it again.

No need to. The Cult of Bill will defend him endlessly no matter how wrong you are. Pushing Brady out was so far beyond stupid that there is no defense for it.

I think he should get a red jacket for this. Maybe Seymour can help induct him. Lol

Wow, they actually could have had WR's David Terrell or Koren Robinson, instead of bust DE Richard Seymour? And they could have had WR Robert Ferguson instead of lousy Matt Light?

This begs the question, is Ron Borges Patsfan2????

WR WR WR WR WR WR............

Conceptually, are the Adobe Photoshop pictures on Ron's site better than Bill's website?

I honestly don't know, I have never seen either. The only reason I know about Borges is because I was puzzled at how he was still receiving the HOF vote, which is absolutely disgraceful, and saw that he had created a bogus website so that he wouldn't lose it. I really wish a petition would be created to get Kraft to demand that the HOF no longer allow the HOF Committee to use Borges as the Nee England representative.

Defense does the job

It’s tough to fault the defense for the job they did against the potent Virginia offense. Last week was the first time they had failed to cross 20 points and every other game was easily over 30. Against the Tar Heel defense, they only managed 10 until overtime, and even en route to that number on that they enjoyed a fairly beneficial spot from the officials.
...

There is no hope for the offense

The offense just kept shooting itself in the foot, and this included not being able to take advantage of a good drive by once again fumbling inches from the end zone, turning the ball over on the way in again and turning a possible six points to zilch.
...

The fanbase is done with football

A sign that the crowd inside Kenan Stadium was going to be light could be found on Seat Geek before the game. The secondary ticket market site where most UNC fans will now go to resell their tickets, thanks to the partnership with the school, listed tickets for as low as $17 with fees. Some of this had to do with the lack of travel by the Virginia fan base — and it’s tough to blame them for not being believers at this time — but still, the map showed tickets all around the stadium for a game that was sold out before the season began. A lot of those tickets appeared to go unused as the crowd at kickoff was not good. Now, as the game stayed competitive, at least the student section filled out a little bit.

It does go to show just how wasted an opportunity this was for UNC football. The desire is there for the team to be relevant, but fans that have already paid for tickets are opting to just stay home rather than sink more money into parking, concessions, and whatnot. In the end, more crowd shots like that may be what could sink the current coaching staff; if they continue to lose out on revenue by keeping this staff, it may be turn out cheaper to just cut bait than continue to deal with this loss.

Enlighten us on when Brady " bottomed out ?"
Nobody said he did. I said it was Bill's modus operandi to trade players before that happened.

I don't know what is more embarrassing, his personal life or his professional life.

The problem with the media is there’s no consequences for being a complete moron. On the contrary; it’s encouraged.

(Borges would later get into trouble for other reasons, but it wasn’t his idiotic takes that did him in.)

Can't believe that sob is allowed to actively sabotage dynasty Pats from getting into the HoF.

Hard to separate the two. But at least there are many instances of rich old men going for a twenty y/o gold digger. Nothing earth shattering.

The way he has taken a sledgehammer to his own legacy professionally is kind of jaw dropping. Very embarrassing.

You’d be lying if you said you weren’t concerned as a fan when they selected Richard Seymour at 6. The popular picks from the media were who Borges highlighted.

Pats had a lot needs going into 2000 in no order OL, WR, DT, RB and TE. LaDanian Tomlinson revealed a while ago he thought he was going to the Patriots even though he was regularly mocked to go before they picked. Would Bill have picked him if he was available over Seymour?

It was a shock they took at tall lanky DT at 6. In fact, Bill tried him at nose in a 3-4 early on and it didn’t go well. It was when they switched to a 4-3 where Seymour settled in and became the player we knew.
