The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

but if it is true…pretty interesting. I mean it’s not nothing if Kraft fired one of Bill’s close personal friends.
Yes, it is not nothing. Why you don't see that is something.

#1. Respectfully request that this thread be merged into the all Bill all the time one.

#2. F**K Pablo Whorre. You're the Logan Paul of sports media.

#3. I actually didn't know Michael Lombardi was as hated and poorly qualified as he is. I only ever saw him in media and on Twitter and enjoyed him there so I never really looked into his background. When I did I was shocked.

Pablo Torre, Chief Muckraker. How about writing about your Dolphins today? A lot going on there. Maybe nobody cares about the Dolphins.

Reporter reports about things that garner national attention. How about he reports about something less interesting?

Sorry if people are tired of the Bill stuff but far as anyone knew at the time, Lombardi quit to pursue other opportunities.

That's what we know because that's what Mike told everyone who would listen. In particular, he told everyone that he was going off to write a book.

He was fired??

According to the podcast, Bill hired Mike as an assistant after he got ditched in Cleveland without telling anyone else on the staff.

Then when his one-year contract was up, Bob insisted that he not give Mike another contract allegedly because Mike caused a lot of tension between himself and the other executives in the Patriots senior leadership team.

This seems to be the start of the Kraft BB fallout

AFAIK it's not stated if this did or did not cause friction between Bill and Bob.

Belichick deserved to be fired, and he was fired. How is that not the end of the story?

There's almost always more to the story than what we are first told, and it almost always takes a long time to come out.

People make movies about this ****. One of them is Bob Kraft.

I just don't understand why anyone who is a fan of the current team would care about what the coach that was fired 2 coaches ago, nearly 2 calendar years ago now, that Kraft fired his buddy a decade ago.

That's high school gossip drama ****, and moreover, about **** that does not matter to anything in the slightest regarding the current team.

People make movies about everything. Especially nostalgia baiting. Usually they flop.

Bill was in our lives for 24 seasons. Read about him in the sports pages on paper or online all those years. Heard about him on the talk shows. There were lots of things he did over that time that were puzzling. Now a lot of them are starting to make more sense.

Of course it's gossip. That's what people do.

It's also curiosity. Why did he do the things he did? Especially in his case because he said so little about what he was actually thinking. The sports pages and talk radio were full of speculation. Now we're getting more insight into the man.

I mean, he was the head coach of the Patriots for 24 years.
Whether or not you were parasocial with him is a choice, I suppose.
He certainly wasn't 'in my life', but it explains your fascination with it.

Nothing says trying to connect with your student like having Collective Soul perform pre-game....30 years ago.
Bill Belichick must have discovered Scream 2, saw it was set on a college campus, heard the song at the end and then had a stroke and forgot it was set in 1997

If only we had a button next to each and every thread on the main page that would let us Ignore threads that annoy us....
jeez, why hasn't somebody thought of that. I mean we can put men on the moon but haven't come up with The Button

Time we know of where Kraft overruled Belichick.

-Firing Lombardi
-Firing Patricia
-Not letting him pick Jimmy G over Brady

Hmmmmm

I have never believed the story that Belichick was going to trade Brady to San Francisco. Lynch came out and said he called Belichick and asked about Brady and Belichick laughed at him.

I predict the next big Belichick story will be when the HOF committee will snub him and put Tom Coughlin forward as the candidate, all those people with agendas who he was mean to down the year will make him wait a year and put Coughlin in so they can get a "Coughlin beat him again" dig at Bill.
