The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

I wouldn't say that lol. Are you going to say Josh was better than Andy Reid pre Mahomes? Because then we can start a whole debate on whether Josh is only inferior because he didn't have a QB like Mahomes.

Bill gets credit for his 6 SB's as HC, but his 2 as DC on the Giants are irrelevant to this discussion. No other HC in the league gets celebrated for SB's they got at a coordinator.

It is valid to say that Bill as a HC has shown that he's closer to the guy he was in Cleveland without Brady. Acting like Bill's DC wins are anywhere near comparable to Brady's starting QB SB win in Tampa is just not based in reality.
I should have said successful as HC instead of won. And really what I meant was a tie breaker to others in a similar spot as him. Reid took the Eagles to a SB that's obviously not a comp for McD. And since you brought up Reid his time in GB gets mentioned a lot, he talks about it very foundly, he might not have a boat named with it but I'm positive he has his own way of celebrating it.

It's not valid it's pointless to cherry pick just some bad years and ignore the good ones.

I expect UNC will be better, just a matter of how long/how much.
Buy-In will be HUGE IMO.

He wants me to name names lol I'm no snitch lol

Scroll back a couple posts you don't have to look far.
There's been only one poster I’ve seen here who really was anti-BB but he’s banned so it seems you’re lecturing an audience of nobody. Besides, nobody is saying BB’s work with Brady doesn’t count, the topic of discussion on the last couple of pages is BB’s work without Brady.

Your opinion doesn't really matter because you apparently think you're behavior is that of someone who is a fan of Bill so you clearly don't see it.

It's not cherrypicking. 11 years is a career for most coaches. How many times prior to Brady leaving have we heard "oh look at one season in 2008 and 4 games in 2016 to say Bill could do it all without Brady". That is cherrypicking. A decade sample size is not.

If you don't like the term cherry picking let's just say it's really bad math. Unless you are going to adjust everyone you are comparing him too in a similar fashion.

11 years removing a single variable is a valid discussion. We aren't discussing a season or two where you can say "oh well the roster was similarly bad". 11 years is a career worth of time to evaluate someone without a single player in multiple scenarios with multiple rosters. Especially when that variable left and won a SB and also 5 playoff wins in 3 seasons (and made the playoffs all 3 times).

Like this is kind of silly. There is a huge difference between Bill with Brady and without him and Brady has shown he is far more of a constant without Bill. 11 years is not some ridiculous sample size to evaluate. That's more than Bill Walsh's entire tenure in the league. That's the combined time Parcells was on the Giants and Jets.

It's a fair discussion on him. And I already did compare him on this board to other coaches without their top HOF QB.

"That's more than Bill Walsh's entire tenure"

That should tell you something.
