The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

Things have gone quiet with Bunny these days.

It makes me wonder, did he give her a gag order?

Or maybe a swallow order?
Its coming.

UNC is not going undefeated.

When the media and some UNC fans express their disappointment, She will spring into action. Some might even blame her. Get the popcorn ready.

Why is that noteworthy? True for most NFL coaches
BB worship is over the top
Or football coaches in general.

I'm not convinced Bill will succeed at UNC. See Walsh, Bill for an example of how things can easily go south at that level for a legendary NFL coach.

Coaching the college game is 95% recruiting, 5% X’s and O’s. I mean, the top teams in the country only play 2 or 3 competitive games per year. The other 8 games have such a huge talent disparity that they are practically exhibition games of men against boys.

So that’s why a great X’s and O’s guy like Walsh can’t simply stroll on campus and win 10 or 11 games using his mind. We can safely expect the same from Belichick. All the schemes in the world won’t help when the other guys are to a man bigger, stronger, faster than yours.

True. Which is why what the coaches say is often PR to help win the next recruiting cycle. Like LSU touting its two OTs the past couple of years.

That was what the Bills did. Parcells and Belichick. Especially hammering down in a very public way on the star QB. Sends a necessary message.

Bill Parcells went after the untouchable fifth degree black belt Andre Tippett his first year in New England. Most guys would be fearful. And he rode Bledsoe hard. Almost tore him a new one.

Belichick is perhaps the better coach. But Parcells set tge blueprint and is definitely the better GM.

Hart Lee Dykes is the best WR in NFL history. See another farcical statement below.
BB is the best GM in NFL history.
The only reason Don Shula’s win record won’t be broken by BB is the crap job he did drafting beginning NLT 2015. And that’s a double shame.

Which is why guys like Mac Jones can win national championships.

IIRC, 5 Bama players went in round 1 of that NFL draft.

I have a different opinion.

Disagree. There's lots to say about Bill Polian one way or the other but he has BB beaten as a GM hands down and he's not the only one.

No he does not. Brady has 7 BB has 6. Anything else is not worth acknowledging.
Lol it's not even close. Polian won 1 SB his legacy is building losers.

It may not have been his preferred choice, but Bill would know that this would be his last chance if Bob let him return. Whether or not Maye turns out to be a good player or not, he was the obvious choice.

Polian was a good GM, but he was really bad after 2003. In fact, the Colts are very lucky they even won a Super Bowl in 2006. Chargers would've ran them out of the stadium had they beaten NE a week earlier. 2006-2010 where the Colts weakest teams.

Marty Schot would have went to a Super Bowl and likely beat the Bears.

Didnt Indy have a ton of cap space tied up in offense and could not afford defense? Injuries got them too.

BB drafting Maye would be a shocker to me... it would go completely against his MO for building an offense, picking NFL ready guys who fit in a system. Mac Jones was the no brainer pick even though it didn't work out. Maye is raw and still is in many ways. I can't see BB drafting and working with a raw project that high in the draft.

IMO he'd trade down and go with JJ McCarthy or Bo Nix who are more polished.

It wasn't just the Colts..Polian was also the architect of the 90's Buffalo Bills that went to 4 straight Super Bowls. Signed Kelly traded for Bennett and hit home runs in the draft with Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed He also picked Marv Levy as their new coach which worked out well.

If BB had built the foundation for Dynasty 1.0 here and not Parcells then I'd consider BB to be a greater GM here. IMO

2 of those mean absolutely nothing in any comparison with a player. I don't acknowledge them.
Who cares what you acknowledge he has them it's not a debatable fact.

Not when you are comparing a coach’s rings to a player. Players can’t get rings as a coordinator and it was Parcells who earned those rings as the Giants coach not Bill.

Brady 7 Bill 6
Brady 1-0 head to head vs Bill
Bill has a sub .500 record with 8(?) losing seasons out of 11 sans Brady. That’s the only comparison that needs to be made.

BB had plenty to do with D1.0 with his drafts and FA pickups. And we knew it was him shopping for the groceries. We don't know that about Tuna. According to him he wasn't allowed to do the shopping.

LSU had every reason to to tout Campbell, he was the best left tackle in the country.

Its not about comparing or credit just count. There's 8 of them.
