The Annual Brady "Stinker" Game

2006 at IND 20-27 4 INT
2005 at KC 16-26 4 INT
2004 at MIA 28-29 4 INT
2003 at BUF 0-31 4 INT

Didn't feel like going back to 2001-2002 since 2 is a coincidence, 3 is a trend and 4 is ... well I don't know what 4 is but it should be enough to start a thread on the topic.

2002 was Brady's worst year with several bad but not SO bad games. GB, SD & NYJ (in Foxboro!) come to mind without checking on the net.
That being said, I'm beting that he does NOT have a 4 pick game this year. Games THAT bad usually are a function of having no starting RB and/or a depleted sub-par receiving corps.

He also had a 3 INT+1 Fumble game against GB in 2002, and a 4 INT game against Denver in 2001.

I've aready gone through the games. He's had one, and only one, 4 turnover game each year he's been a starter.

I'm not talking about bad games. I'm talking about the one (and generally only one) game per year that Brady hacks up a hairball. As noted earlier it is typically a 4 turnover game that the Pats lose. It has become a reliable annual affair so I think the question is valid...particularly this year where he finally has the weapons to use.

Oh, so you're saying a "really" bad game vs. a bad game and the rest are average, above average, great & incredible...or is a stinker worse than a really bad game?

Seriously, I know the games you're talking about and I'll make a prediction that he does not have a "stinker" this year.

Having said that, if he gets intercepted twice in a game against a solid team & the PATRIOTS lose the game, that will NOT qulify as a stinker and I'll still be correct in my prediction. 2 interceptions can't count as a stinker by your definition.

The only problem with your statistics is that we don't know if it was Brady having a bad game or the O-line playing bad and/or the receivers running poor routes or the whole team playing bad.

If Brady was under relentless, constant pressure in these 4 games, we really can't conclude these games are Brady's stinkers and not the entire team's.

Better now than in the playoffs.

But, I don't think so. I agree it'll probably be @ Miami, their offense blows but their D is good.

That is what I'm wondering about. Do the skills guys on this year's squad make Brady immune to that type of game? The OL/TE/RB shouldn't have to protect forever to allow Brady to be effective.

If he has one of those games this year, a reasonable person might conclude that Brady has a "stinker" every year has part of his yearly progression to the playoffs. I don't buy that, but I couldn't come up with a good argument to the contrary.

Paralyzation by overanalyzation

Not gonna happen. Those games have always been about WRs not being able to get open. This unit is superb! Brady will have his best year ever!

Wow, you're really going out on a limb there Bostonian, huh?
