Texans RB Steve Slaton likely on the trade block

Would you give up a 3rd or 4th for a solid 25 year old vet running back who is only on the trade block due to an overcrowding RB roster in Houston?

I would trade a mid round pick for Slaton and draft a back on the second day and maybe a fullback in the 6th or 7th - that would take care of our RB position if Morris and Taylor and Faulk are all gone.

You sure it was overcrowded? I think it is more along the lines that he fumbles the ball quite a bit. It's called being on a coaches **** list is more like it.

don't see that happening. Serious injuries have hit him hard. And yeah, he does fumble quite a bit.

I know we can't trade picks for players because of the CBA situation. But if it gets resolved, or if it meant a pick next year, I wouldn't give up a high pick, but if he's available for a 6th or a 7th, I would roll the dice. If he's healthy and he's cured the fumbling issue, he's better than anyone we could reasonably expect to get in that round.

The fumbles are definitely an issue, but one that can be resolved. Just look at Kevin Faulk, who also had similar issues to start his career. It wasn't an issue for Slaton in his rookie season, and he never fumbled once in college.

He can also catch the ball (50 receptions in 2008, 44 in 2009 with his playing time reduced).

This guy hasn't been the same since his rookie season. Keep the Patriots away, please. We already have our two runningbacks in BJGE and Woodhead.
