Ok, here we go. Let’s say Carter and Hunter are gone, and the Pats still decide to go for a pass catcher at 4. This is not a thread about arguing that the Pats should trade down, blah blah blah. It’s a simple thread, who would you want the Pats to pick if they are going pass catcher at 4 between McMillan and Warren (and nobody else).
Neither, are you fkn serious?

Neither , they're both overrated.

That’s not a direct answer though. Do you feel he has the makings of an all pro who belongs in the rarefied air of all-pro tight ends? There are “fine” tight ends like Hunter Henry, then there are dudes who can dominate a game and give DCs nightmares.

But none of that is the point of this thread, simply if you had to take one of the two which do you take. I believe that Warren has a better chance of being a + player than TMac does.

FINALLY ! Someone finally gets the gist of this thread.

The gist of your thread makes perfect sense trying to narrow down the weapon you think is best.

I have asked my brothers a similar question. Take Carter and Hunter off the table and take a trade off the table then who do you take. This very well could be the situation we are in. Between the 3 of us 1 wants Warren, 1 Campbell, and I think Tet. So your scenario was easy for me.

Neither.

Tet could end up a star WR, but I think he has a higher chance of being a bust. Drafting a bust at #4 overall would hurt this team's future significantly.

We have to come away with a foundational piece at #4 who we can rely on to be a really good starter for at least 2 contracts.

If I had to choose one between the two it would be Warren, although taking a TE at #4 overall isn't really a sound strategy. If he becomes baby Gronk or Kelce, then that would be a home run and would be worthy of the pick. But those two are two of the greatest to play the position and the likelihood of Warren being that good is slim. It's more likely that he becomes something like Mark Andrews. Is that worth a #4 pick?

McMillan isn't the same type of WR either. He's closer to Michael Pittman Jr., who is a WR1 in his own right, but on the lower end of the spectrum. The thing with McMillan is he is one of the few true X receivers in this draft class littered with Z and slot types. I went with McMillan for that reason but I wouldn't hate having Warren, even if that crowds the TE room for 2025.

Pittman Jr. isn't a WR1 in anyone's right, unless you have a very low bar for WR1s. Being your individual team's clear WR doesn't make you a WR1.

Warren is my binky. Elite TEs are a cheat code. Look at the last decade of Super Bowl participants. 80% of them fielded an elite TE. Outside of QB, it is the ultimate offensive mismatch.

Math would suggest there are 32 WR1s. Some teams have more than 1 and some teams don't have 1 at all. But I feel like people only consider 5-10 players to actually be a WR1 so for most of the rest it's I'm not sure about a low bar as much as unrealistic opinions of what a WR1 is.

Warren is a sure thing but tight end isn’t a position you take top 5, top 10 sure,
As terrified as I am I would love Tet to prove to me his is Mike Evans.
You’re probably correct, but after Gronk we are Jonesing for a complete TE & Warren looks like the real deal

I don't like T-Mac. Big and slow. Did you see Travis Hunter make him look like a plodding galoot? Of course Hunter did that to a lot of guys, but he was in T-Mak back pocket the whole way. Trade down instead of taking T-Mak.

FINALLY ! Someone finally gets the gist of this thread.
We get it.

Would you rather have Conerly or Golen at 4?

IMO, the relevance to the pick at 4 is the same.

The likelihood is exactly a 0.001% of any of the 4 being drafted by the patriots at 4. That is because Vrabel will not be forced to draft any of these players.

I can name a half dozen prospects I'd rather have not named Carter or Hunter but given the choice I went Warren. He's a versatile every down TE. Tet is no better than what I could find in round 3.
