One thing I have wanted to do over the years was to go to a practice. Do any of you have any plans to go this year or the next? For those local or experienced, do you have any suggestions? I assume I would be flying into Logan from FL and renting a car to head down to foxboro but was thinking of staying near Fairhaven. This way I could stay in my hometown for at least a night, see friends, etc then see the practice. Or would it be better to be near foxboro? Are there decent/not so shady places to stay near foxboro or is it a total dumpster? I know it’s really early to tell what most have planned but I’m just trying to plan things out ahead of time to avoid a logistics snafu. Outside the practice, is there much to do nearby? If I remember right, Fairhaven is about an hour or so away from foxboro so driving back and forth daily shouldn’t be an issue. And again, just looking for any suggestions u have in mind. As always, any input is appreciated!

Mods: wasn’t sure if this is the right place to post or if there is another place it could go so feel free to move if needed.

I live in Foxboro so I go all the time. I've been to so many and I'm so close that I wouldn't say it's worth the effort. But then again if you've never been and we here at patsfans are a little over the top so it's probably worth it.

There are very nice hotels at Gillette that I assume are only overpriced on games and I bet for practice prices aren't effected much.

About the only thing around that you'd definitely want to do would be to go to the Hall which I think is really nice and I still go even though I've been a ton. Probably more fun than the practice.

I'd definitely plan it around one of the joint practices. Much better action with another team there.

They do a lot around the area little kiosks and things to entertain wives and kids.

Most of the practice is slow paced but the last half hour or so the pace picks up and action is somewhat worth it. Especially if they have the pads on that day. But I can't stress it's not as much action as you'd think.

Generally practice is 2 hours.
Starts with players slowly coming out and messing around to get ready.

Then stretching.

Followed by running stuff vs air.

Then they do position stuff vs air

Next 7 on 7

Back to position stuff this time they do it 1 v 1

Then they bring everyone together for some 11 on 11

Typically some sort of STs in the middle

Then a final 11 on 11

Cool down period and autograph session. Typically one position group a day signs and they are generally pretty good about staying long and trying to make the kids happy. I'd say a kid has at least a 50/50 shot of getting someone but it could be a player they barely know.

Then some players do a little extra but most head inside.

The change in the level of player interaction once they made the move to Gillette probably 20 years ago now....dropped my excitement to zero. When I was a kid in the late '90s, during the Bryant College era, you just were able to talk to so many players and coaches....extremely informal.

When they went to Gillette, it became very corporate, very restricted, by comparison. My friend, who never experienced Bryant, loved it, though. Guess Bryant spoiled me
