I will wait to see what Tate will bring this year when he plays the next game but the guy never gets open and runs crisp routes.I am sure he knows Price is breathing down his neck so he better perform.

This is just the first game of the preseason. We shouldn't choose one over the other just yet. Tate is a good kickoff returner as I recall.

How anyone could think Price or Edelman would be cut before Tate sort of confuses me. Price is a lock for this team and Edelman is, as well. Tate not so much.

He's not all that as a KO Returner, he's good and can bring it back all the way, but he's not that agile and goes down with minimal contact IMO.

Also did you see how many touchbacks there were around the league last night? And the ones that weren't touchbacks usually got stuffed inside the 20.

Just curious, should we Tell BJGE, he can stay on the bench since we got Ridley now? A few more games like that for Mallet and the Trade Brady Threads will start popping up.

It's one preseason game, what you saw should leave you feeling optimistic. But as Parcells said, lets not put em in Canton just yet!

I like Tate more than the average person, but he just got cut off my projected roster in favor of Slater. Yeah.

Not sure what any of that has to do with this thread but...

COOL STORY BRO.

The thing with Tate is that his route running leaves alot to be desired! The guy just seems lost out there.

I agree it's prb between Edelman and Tate. Edelman hasn't been able to stay healthy and you can't make the club from the tub. Some people thought maybe we would cut Slater and keep all the WR's, but Slater was once again the first man downfield on ST's and also made a nice catch. I think every team needs at least one guy like Slater.

If you put a gun to my head, I'd have to say Taylor Price after watching that preseason game. However to be fair to Tate, he hasn't had a chance to showcase his stuff yet. But for now it looks like Price is going to win that #4 WR spot. And might even win a starter's role by 2012 when the Pats will most likely let Branch walk.

Those are really good analogies since BJGE and Brady are in similar spots on the RB and QB depth chart as Tate is at WR.

1000 yd RB vs an underachieving WR. That is an awful comparison. Tate did very little last year and has not progressed. Price, on the other hand, has shown continuous improvement throughout training camp and it culminated with an outstanding effort last night. wasn't it Price that took the time to go work out with Brady in the offseason?

I dont see tate making a roster spot.
Price looks very good last night. Good catches, good body control, nice route running, nice return.
And if i only judge the game yesterday, slater have also a good impact. He´s a very good ST and he made an awesome catch.

It has to do with Fans like you who get too caught up in one game, esp a preseason game. The timing of the thread is just a little rediculous coming off one good game for Price.
