I hate to be 'that guy' but don't we say this every year?

In fact, I think Polk was even a pre-season stud last year.

But your point is still valid as there is reason for optimism. Let's just hope it's not fool's gold.
Polk was not a stud last pre. He had some ok practice moments, but he didn’t show out like Henderson has. Or even Chism for that matter.

There will be excuses.

The OL will get the most blame even though the QB holds the ball too long.
What do you think of that weird hitch he's got before throwing? He pauses his motion before every throw.

This is a fair point. But I will take what looks like an excellent draft class as a trade off

Agreed. I think that it would be OK if only Campbell and Chism panned out, but it looks as though Henderson and Wilson will too.

To be honest, my verdict on last year's roster was that the O-line and the defensive front 7 were dreadful. Only Onwenu, Barmore and maybe Strange and White clearly belonged on NFL rosters. If they fix them, I have confidence.

Defenses will be like a feeding frenzy.

It would be foolish to cut Bourne: if he could go in a Month. I'll take Bourne this year over the alternatives: Polk and Baker who gives us Nothing. Also Kyle Williams is a Rookie: barefoot Mack Hollins grades out as a decent # 4 WR. IF Diggs goes down our WR situation will be like last year's close to league bottom. I don't think we can afford to cut Bourne a decent vet if healthy.
Who are you going to cut to keep Bourne? Chism? Or are you going to keep 7? If it's only six, you'd have to cut one of Diggs, Douglas, Boutte, Williams, Hollins, and Chism.

Jeff Howe with a bit more detail:

And Jordan Schultz on Dugger specifically:

We might keep both Polk and Bourne, and that makes 8. It just doesn't matter. There will only be 6 on the 53-man roster for Game One.

Nobody wants Kyle Dugger unless: the Patriots plan on eating the majority of that contract.

He should redo his contract if he wants to stay. 1 year prove it with incentives.

I wonder what happened to strange. I thought he was going to be solid. Maybe the injury?

Jennings in my ideal world nets us an IOL back up option we really like. He isn't going to net a starter, but it can be someone decent.

If we were to trade him for a pick i would hope it be a performance based pick. As no way for a straight up pick we do better than a 6th, but for a performances based pick, if he really plays he could give us a 5th potentially.

We have a snow balls chance in hell of him doing that. We are going to lose in this Dugger scenario: wish they had listened to some of this board last year: who saw that terrible contract from a mile away.

Dugger I’m sure is feeling very disrespected last season foundational piece with his buddy Mayo,

This season taking snaps with future fed ex employees.

He wants a change of scenery and for whatever reason maybe he has a crap attitude I don’t know what happened behind closed doors. Vrabel clearly doesn’t see him as a scheme and or culture fit.

It’s really just the 2025 salary and incentives of $10.75m that the new team would have to worry about. 2026 salary only is guaranteed if he’s still on the roster in March 2026 so if the new team cuts him by then, there would be no financial ramifications.

Clearly the issue is no one wants to take him on for $10.75m this year (entire cap hit would be 2025).
