teams meeting each other before the game...never seen this before. NFL needs to always change something everyyear.
works ok this year because there's no bad blood between the teams...

I just keep saying "what the hell is this?". Primetime media day...OK, I get that people want to see it. Wait, and the captains have to meet and shake hands? The QB's are being interviewed at the same time? There is a freaking concert at "halftime"? This is ridiculous. What a farce.
"That's entertainment."

Butler is a RFA. He is not going anywhere in the next two years which is why he is not a priority for this offseason. The Pats have him for cheap over the next two years (1st round tender + franchise) compared what other CBs of his skill make over the same amount of time.

Also you are undervaluing Bennett, as TE's are notoriously difficult to project when drafting.

Not undervaluing Bennett just saying worst case

If your team needs bulletin board material to motivate them in a SUPERBOWL game. Especially quotes as insignificant as Freeman's, they've already lost.
You're team is in the SB, why so glum?

My point was that it is pretty hard to find a good, complete TE in the draft.

Marty is the full package in terms of receiving, blocking and mental toughness. Unless he wants some really crazy money my gut feeling is that BB & co. will find a way to keep him around for another 2 years.

Geez, they just showed the "my dad is my hero" clip on ESPN and it sure got pretty dusty in this hotel room I'm stuck in. Might need to report it to the front desk that they need to change the filters in the air circulation system.

OT-ish, but does anyone know if Tom Sr. is under the weather or something? Not asking because of Tom getting emotional, since he's often emotional over his parents, but because of his comment, "And hopefully he’s at the game cheering me on." I think Tom Sr.'s maybe 73? Certainly not too old to fly safely just due to age.

I have no clue but I do wonder about one of his parents as they weren't at the AFCCG. Maybe they usually don't go to that but I wouldn't be surprised if something is up. It happens, he's almost 40.

Hmm. I remember that interview with Jim Rome (I think) where Brady all but said someone in his family has breast cancer (or cancer, anyways). There was a thread on it here somewhere months ago.

I read somewhere that Brady supposedly said that he'd told his dad that he "didn't do me any favors" with his comments on Goodell earlier this week, so maybe he's just staying away until the weekend or maybe he'd just rather not deal with sitting in the stands during the game and would rather watch it at home.

He didn't really say that much. He was more in a joking manner with K&C.

“I’ve banned my Dad from talking, so he’s no longer available to the media,” Brady said with a chuckle.

It's sort of like when a parent says to their child "I wanna kill you". Unless they are a cold blooded murderer, they say that because the child has gotten on their nerves a little. I'm sure Brady told him to tone it down, but not to an extent of being outright serious with it.

I caught that comment too and it raised my eyebrow, but I am hoping it was just a clumsily phrased way of saying that his dad will be there.

I wasn't suggesting any sort of a rift. Just that any talk that brings attention to something TB's trying to avoid during SB week is a distraction.

You have to go back to his first stint with the Falcons to relish in his achievements. From wikipedia:

"In 2005, Schaub was named the Most Valuable Player in the American Bowl preseason game in Tokyo, Japan. In front of 45,203 fans at the Tokyo Dome, Schaub completed 11 of 13 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns in a 27–21 comeback victory over the Indianapolis Colts."

Holy sh*t! That's like a major award.

"During the regular season he played QB in 5 games, starting one. His lone start came against the New England Patriots in week 5; Schaub threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns in the 31–28 loss."

Almost BEAT Tom Brady!

"Schaub was the holder on extra points and field goals."

That ball isn't going to hold itself.
