Sorry but I don't blame Bledsoe for this loss. Yes 4 picks but I think even Brady in his prime would have had some major problems with what was happening in front of him. Even Newhouse looked better than this.

0:40 LOL. I hope Lane got an assist on that sack.

Hard to blame Lane tbh, he had no business being asked by his coach to take on White 1-on-1. This was completely on Parcells. No question.

Shoulda never kicked it to Howard either....

Only losing by 14 with Bledsoe’s performance is kind of impressive.

The only way to make sense of the breadth of ways that the Pats got beat is to say they were outcoached.

Man I remember the D was actually really good that day. It stinks the rest of the team handed overrated Favre a totally undeserved trophy. The dude got away with throwing away so many games in his career without criticism just because of that one ring Bledsoe and Howard handed him.

Well, since this thread is here opening old wounds...

Milloy covering Freeman one on one and not slowing him with a bump was just begging for that 80yd TD.

On a positive note, I thought Otis Smith was going to have a bullseye on him in SB36 after the Rams saw his job on Rison in this game. GSOT didnt light him up so he acquitted himself well.

Regards,
Chris

Max Lane looked like the bad AI in Madden Football where you could have your DE run around the tackle and they wouldn't even put their arms out (1:04). White also tossing Coates aside, wow!

Those uniforms look way better and had more character than the crap they have now. One of the only modifications is taking off the massive "Flying Elvis's" on the shoulder pads.

It was a team loss. Defense was bad in the first half which led to the big deficit at half. St were bad throughout. Pass protection broke down in half 2.

In a way....if we had won that SB....I don't think we end up with Belichick/Brady in 2000.....I think Parcells would have been less likely to bolt to the Jets? Who knows...and maybe we never hire Carroll...and maybe BB gets another HC gig. IIRC, BB got an offer from the Chiefs...but Leon Hess gave him a million bucks to stay on as DC.

Parcells was already gone. The deal was pretty much done before the Super Bowl happened. He hated Kraft at that point and wanted to shop for the groceries. I don't think anything could have changed him leaving.

Although if they won the Super Bowl, maybe Kraft gives the reigns to Belichick at that point. I think he might not have been with the Pats by 2000 then. I think Belichick was not the coach he was when the Pats got him in 2000 that he was when he took the Browns' job. He learned from that experience.

If Parcels had his head in the game, we stood a chance... Green Bay was a better team, but the '96 team was pretty good, and could hang ... the offense was stacked with Martin / Glenn / Coates... Gash was a damn fine full back ... had the Larry Whigham stacked Defense... too bad Parcels was an asshat...

I think the Pats figured out how to run on them in the second half. Martin was starting to have his way with their defense.

So obviously it was time for bombs away with Bledsoe in the 4th quarter with Max Lane in a mismatch with White. Logical coaching move.

They got a gift from Denver losing in a massive upset to the Jags. Martin was banged up which was why he wasn't used much. Sam Gash didn't play in the Super Bowl. It was also not known that Favre was big time choker in the playoffs which started in '97.

Howard came across as kinda douchey in an interview talking about the arrogance of the Pats kicking right to him and chirped a bit at Vinatieri trying to chase him down.

ya know, i had completely forgotten Gash was on the IR for the playoff run...

and I remember the afccg at Foxboro vs the Jags... I lost my keys in the south endzone... they were found by the 12 year old kid who sat next to us wiwo... gave him all the cash i had left in my pockets

The Packers were too good to allow the Pats to shield Drew from having to come up big. As was his destiny, he's a pick machine against top teams and he lived up to that.

undeserved trophy lmao

I don't blame Bledsoe for the loss, not when the defense gives up an 81 yard TD, 54 yard TD and special teams a 99 yard TD.
They played from behind, barely ran the ball and left Lane one on one with Reggie White. OUT COACHED.

Parcells was checked out mentally, and how the team played was a reflection of that. That was the biggest thing that cost the team the win. Well that and the Packers were fundamentally a better team. But if Parcells wasn't drama whoring the place up they would have had a fighting chance.

That said, Bledsoe was a terrible playoff QB. His "hero game" subing in for Brady he had 1 touchdown drive and then stunk the joint up. Everything else is worse.
