Stimulus and Patriot Place

Yup... gonna be wasted anyways - let's spend it where the money makers are. I have zero confidence in govt. I think the stimulus package is a waste and a way for the govt to try and look good when in fact they encouraged the losers in corporations to make bad decisions and stupidly ruin so many people.

The stimulus package is useless... let's give it to Patriots Place.

The nearly trillion dollar Stimulus was absolutely needed to limit unemployment to 8.5 %. Oh wait, unemployment is now 10.2%. Heads should roll, but they won't.

It was, and still is, useless. There was going to be a downward swing. It was going to rebound. The govt should have stayed away. Their ecomonists probably said as much. They suck.

Give the money to Kraft. He knows what to do with it. He got the bling. He cool. He got swagger. Yay.

What forum am I in? I'm lost.....

Apparently, the bridge links to a tract of land that's future plans include supporting many acres of Bio techs, campus style. Kraft owns that land two so I guess he's double dipping. If memory serves me he mostly financed the stadium with his own money. That is a rarity today, most often municipalities get involved, peoples taxes go up and so on. In this case it's nice that he's getting greased a little.

I respect and admire Kraft. He's a hero to me. Nonetheless, it's not right to sieze money from hard working families struggling to support their families to subsidize a project that benefits a specific business.

I am against the stimulus. They are not giving the money back at this point. This bridge will be a vital aspect of a new Bio Tech area that will create industry and thousands of jobs. So while I am against the stimulus, this seems like as decent a place as any to spend a portion of it. I mean at least they are not doing research on sweat glands in pigs like other places.

Your stimulus money at work.

Hard working families aren't the ones who have the money - the govt has that money. And, to be the devil's advocate once more, I'd suspect Kraft has giving more in taxes this year than many hard working families have given in their lifetimes.

And, to be politically incorrect, if these "hard working families" were actually working there'd be no need for the stinkulous package in the first place.

Probobly the most ignorant statement I've ever read on this board....

Stick to football, farn.

First and foremost, where do you think govt money comes from? The govt GETS its money from taxpayers. Kraft, AND working families pay taxes so that the govt can piss it away posting mileage signs every tenth of a mile along MA highways.

Secondly unemployment is just over 10%, which means almost 90% of hard working families are working.

My mathematics have never really been my strongsuit, but I'd believe that 90% constitutes a majority, does it not?

Deval Patrick in sweatheart deal to Kraft?

Governor denies Patriots donations controversy | Truth&Rumors | FanNation

I doubt it is true, but if it is, um, so what?

Other owners get stadiums built on the public dime and he MAY have gotten a footbridge.

If this was, say the Lions, it would be a non-story. As it is it is throw anti-Patriots stuff against the wall and see if enough Patriot-haters can make it stick.

Re: Deval Patrick in sweat heart deal to Kraft?

Hell, mention the Patriots in any rumor and other fans get crazier than a fly in a tin ****house.

Re: Deval Patrick in sweat heart deal to Kraft?

"Sweat" heart? What, did the deal take place in a sauna?

Re: Deval Patrick in sweatheart deal to Kraft?

Sweatheart..sounds like a 'hot' debate

Re: Deval Patrick in sweatheart deal to Kraft?

I'm assuming the footbridge is for the fans and not for the Krafts. I think they park on the other side of the street. (Why did the fan cross the street ?) Plus wouldn't the footbridge reduce the number of state police being used as crossing guards and thereby be cheaper and safer in the long run? ie over the life of the bridge (50 - 75 years).

Re: Deval Patrick in sweatheart deal to Kraft?

I may be all wet here, but I sure thought the premise of the stimulus money was to bring jobs to an area??

If building the pedestrian bridge achieves that - I think that is pretty good use for the money, especially when you look around at other ways the money is being spent (or not being spent).

Build the bridge, attract a big company as a tenant and bring a whole bunch of construction work followed by permanent jobs to this area.

Nah - never mind, many jealous people would prefer to take their shots at the Kraft family because the had balls to take an enormous risk 16 years ago and it happened to pay off quite nicely for them.

I think the cost of stimulus money for the bridge pales in comparison to what the Kraft's will be putting up for yet another risky venture.

To think Kraft donated to Deval Patrick to get the bridge dome is really ridiculous to me.

Doubt if what's true, that billionaires contribute to political campaigns?

State records show Kraft and his wife, Myra, each gave the maximum $500 campaign contribution to Patrick and Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray last month. The Krafts each also gave the state Democratic Party the maximum $5,000 donation.

Last year, Robert Kraft gave similar donations to Patrick and the party as the state was designating his property a special growth district. The donations were Kraft's first to the governor and first in four years to the party.

Patrick Denies Link Between Kraft Donations & Road - wbztv.com

Wow, so he contributed $500 twice to Patrick. Sure that put him over the top.

Unusual for Kraft?

Here's the list from this site. Maybe it doesn't include state donations, but i think it puts two $500 donations in perspective.

I dunno... sometimes I'm off in the football dept as well... be careful what you wish for.

As for the MOST ignorant - I don't think so. I figure I've made more ignorant posts myself, let alone the rest of these wackos.

You can't have it both ways... some say 90% of people are working ? Then why do you NEED a stimulus package to get people back to work ? Either (A) not enough people are working or (B) tonnes of people are working and therefore my original thought of "no need for a package" is legit. Which is it ?

Truth ? It's all a sham to get attention off the crooks who created this ridiculous setback.
