Stephon Gilmore Article in Boston.com

"Rapoport also suggested the move may have crossed a more dramatic resolution — specifically, a trade — off the list.

“I’d say it’s possible, there’s just not a big window to do it,” Rapoport said. “Like, if you look at just the calendar, he’ll be back (two weeks) before the trade deadline. So, theoretically, somebody would have to say, ‘I trust enough in what I’ve seen in one game or two games to trade for him.’"

I realize he is an amazing talent... but what do people think of this? Do you think there is a real possibility we trade away Gilmore? He is getting an attitude that generally the patriots don't exactly deal well with.. the patriots don't seem to put up with a lot of the BS other teams do in regards to hold outs.

Really looking forward to the game on Sunday.. I I think I am emotionally prepared for what I believe will be a roller coaster of a season with a talented rookie QB.

I see this article falls for the same fallacy that others have - his salary this year is not $7 Million, it's $13 Million. That's what his contract averaged per year over the full five years of the contract. Gilmore already got paid his 2021 bonus last year or else he'd be over $10 Million in money paid this year.

To be clear - in 2017, Gilmore was paid more cash than any other cornerback in the NFL - $22.9 Million: 2017 Cornerback Contracts and Salaries | Over The Cap

Gilmore should be happy he got his money up front. Most NFL players never see the money at the end of their deal.

Yea well, Gilmore doesn't agree with you. Clearly.

And if he sucked he would have gotten cut and wouldn't have seen through the contract. He has every right to hold out and try and get more money while he can.

So he was lying when he said he was entitled to a raise? Do you "know" that he's all good now or do you "believe" that to be the case?
He reported. On time. Everyone wants a raise.

I hate this nonsense about Bill put him on PUP as a way to play him in fewer games to give him a raise per game. That sounds like the least Bill thing I’ve ever heard. Gilmore is injured. He was willing to play through it and also wanted a raise. Bill said no to the raise (so far) and decided he was injured enough to warrant PUP (but was also happy to do it as it gave him another roster spot). I have no opinion whether he deserves a raise, a trade or a new contract, though I hope Bill knows what he’s doing because shutdown corners are a rare breed.
