Stealing bases, Leading off restrictions?

Can I face 1st base with my back agaisnt 2nd base and back out slowy and lead off, and atempt to steal from that position?

You have to rub your stomach and touch the brim of your cap with your non-throwing hand within 3 seconds of stopping; but otherwise yes.
