Huh? AD was 29 when he signed his contract with NE, and didn't turn 30 until August. Also, Adalius wasn't a top level starter his entire career, who'd suffered a lot of wear and tear. In took a few years for him to develop into the player NE signed in free agency.

AD's also plays a much different position, and if you look at the contract figures he actually signed with NE for less than he could have received somewhere else.

I think the key distinction here is that Adalius Thomas is, in fact, not a wide receiver.

Exactly, and as I said he'll be 34 at contracts end, not 39 (like Marvin). It's not at all unreasonable to believe he'll be a Patriots for the remainder of that contract.
