Most likely getting some rest for soreness . . . that said, thank goodness for depth this year. Gronk off to a slow start, we have Bennett. If anything were to / has happened to Edelman, we have Hogan and Mitchell this year in addition to Amendola. Not that I want it forced on us but Bennett, Hogan, Mitchell, Amendola is a viable group.

Could simply be the team giving him a little extra rest to not stress his foot too much. I would imagine it still gets a bit sore even if it is healed.

Unfortunately, having 3 separate foot surgeries (2012, 2015, 2016) likely qualifies as "serious" enough, but yes--let's hope that he's able to get through the year. Losing him again would be a big blow. Hopefully, it's not anything too bad.

Ugh, at 31 he might not have too many good years left. Wide receivers age fast.

Is a WR core of Amendola Mitchell and hogan good enough? I mean I don't trust any of those three being able to get separation against a good secondary like Denver. Might be time to make a trade for an outside WR capable of getting separation

Might not be a bad idea to rest him for a couple week or so and bring in another receiver. Maybe bring back C. Harper or Washington? Its too bad Keshawn Martin is on the 49ers.
