You have it backwards, evidently because there is something you said in the past you don't want to admit you are wrong about.
They are only on the team for special teams. Since they also would play a position if everyone on the roster were injured, they are called that too.
You are right I'm wrong I thought about it and I think Amendola is going to play special teams only.. .

we will have to wait and see.

Shame Slater can't catch for beans with his speed. Probably couldn't catch a metal football if he had magnets for hands.

With the introduction of LaFell to the offense, I'd expect the 1-receiver sets with Slater blocking will be much less common, if not a thing of the past. However, if I were to project the ST players (aside from the specialists) with the least number of offensive/defensive snaps, I'd say it is:

  • White (his cut is telling - I could see JGDavis take his place on the roster if a LB goes down)
  • Slater
[checks roster]
  • Don Jones (lands here for good measure, but may go at the top of the list until he is cut)
  • Ebner
  • JGDavis (gets on the roster, plays some backup LB, but not much)
  • Wilson (Will get snaps later in the year, after BB's patience with Chung finally wears out.)
  • Chung, who will lead the roster in offensive defensive snaps.
