Not sure how 52 tackles and 11 1/2 sacks is more name than game.
Plus we'd finally have a mother******* who can tackle Eli. Coughlin will be on the hot seat again which is bad news for us....

It also probably doesn't help that Buffalo just signed Aaron Williams to a 4 year / $26M extension (with incentives up to 4/$27.25).

better than your team I promise you troll.
I'm all for improving the defense in all areas, but it will not help if you significantly weaken the most important position on your defense. Not all positions are as demanding or as important. Given the choice, I'd rather pay a million or two more than I want for my #1 corner, and save the money by, say, letting Duron Harmon start at safety rather than paying a Gregory-like veteran.
As long as he isn't hitting the guards.I could live with Jared Allen and a lesser CB in FA over Talib. People crying about Ryan being the number 1 have to understand that Logan was a rookie last year. We may see some improvement, just saying.
Also, Dennard was hurt a lot of last year, banged up knee and shoulder...also, year 3 for him should be good. He better be hitting the weights in prison.
Am I the only one who's not excited about watching a team you KNOW isn't going to be good enough to win a SB?! Is this that kind of a forum?
If Ryan or Dennard are the number 1 corners on this team I will not watch a single snap.
Nice first post.
Ohhh it's that kind of forum, lol. That's too bad, I see this place gets a ton of traffic but apparently if you disagree with anybody or question the organization you're labeled a troll and a fan of another team. Screw you D bag.
I'm a diehard Pats fan born and raised. I can't stand to watch them with a crappy defense AGAIN. I can't watch Brady struggle throwing to mediocre/rookie receivers AGAIN.
Sorry, it frustrates me to picture a Patriot secondary that consists of McCourty, Ryan, Harmon, and Dennard. That's not good enough. It's not close to good enough. I'm far less concerned with the front 7. Mayo, Hightower, Collins, Jones, and Nink is a great start that doesn't need a bunch of tweaking.
You're pathetic. An internet tough guy

Don't get me wrong, I love Talib. When he was playing this year, he was exceptional. He practically shut down one of the best TE's in the NFL (Jimmy Graham) single handedly. The problem with him is that not only is he injury prone, but he has a tendency toward off the field problems too. I think the smartest thing to do is try to build up the defense thinking that they won't have Talib, but still try to resign him (to a point).I think the ideal scenarios for the Pats, in order, are:
1) They have Talib, and Talib is healthy when they need him. Defense is much better.
2) They don't have Talib, don't plan on having Talib, and use the cap space to shore up other areas of the defense. Defense is solid.
3) They have Talib on the books, but he's hurt, meaning his cap hit makes the rest of the team weaker. Defense is like last year.
There's no question he was a difference maker LAST year, because we were counting on him being there. If you build the team around not having him, you have a better chance of playing well in his absence.
BAN ME FOR WHAT?!? Because I think they need a corner of Talibs level? Holy hell, what are we doing here?! Someone please show me how that's out of line? Oh my lord

Well, I guess this means bye-bye Aquib because no one around Foxboro makes "top-of-the-market" money other than the owner and the head coach.
This is why the next few weeks will be my least favorite ones on the football calendar watching the Patriots lose good players while replacing them with used-up castoffs all in the name of "value".
I truly get it: Most NFL players are replaceable; I'll lose no sleep rather Dan Connolly or Josh Kline will be the Pats starting RG next season. Either will do an acceptable job and, if they can't, they'll be ten others standing in the NFL unemployment line who can.
BUT, Cornerbacks with the speed, size and agility to cover #1 receivers do not grow on trees and are essential if you want a good defense in these pass-happy days. If you see his "value" at 7 million a year but the market is 8 million a year, it is lunacy to lose him over the difference.
