Some Myths shattered tonight

Can we now officially shatter the myth that you are a Pats fan and not a Colts fan?

Hahahahahaha :rocker:
Seriously Miguel you don't think we all realized after last night that most us our perceptions about the Colts have been wrong??? We get it, you didn't need to take the "I've been smarter than all of you" route.

The MVP belonged to the entire Colts "D" - to me that verifies the Defense wins Championships credo.

Or you could simply say Rex Grossman was exactly who we thought he was and the Colts were crowned as a result.

I take nothing away from the Colts however, they went out and won this thing by playing solid "D" and for the first time this decade, played to win on offense with long sustained clock killing drives.

Looking forward, no way the Colts "D" stays together because they don't have the money to keep it together.

Is there anyone that would trade places with the Colts right now - their team for ours straight up??

1.) Peyton's contract will prevent the Colts from ever winning a Super Bowl.
2.) Former Pats never have success away from the Pats. See Adam, Dexter Reid and Dan Klecko.
3.) Rain would favor the Bears.
4.) Joe Addai was a reach by the Colts.
5.) The Colts will implode in 2006.

6) The Colts O-line doesn't get away with the most egregious holding in the league.

Now as for your points Miguel -
1) Yep. A lot of people have said it. And, well, I could have sworn that you were saying the same thing about 4 years ago.

2) Its very few and far between that ex-Pats have success away from the Pats. Adam, Law, and Greg Spires are really the only Patriots who have done anything. The jury is out on Klecko and Reid is and will always be a fringe STs player.

3) See what others have said.

4) Addai wasn't a reach. Could you please point out who said this? I can remember saying that I didn't think that Addai would be that good. But I failed to take into consideration the garbage that the Colts O-line gets away with.

5) I don't remember anyone saying this. But, when you consider that it was several BS calls against the Patriots, some bad play-calling and execution that allowed the Colts to even sniff the SB. Oh, and the Colts were the benefits of several non-calls last night. Including illegal hands to the face by their O-line in the 2nd half. I saw this happen at least 3 times on the longer running plays by the Colts.

You left out No. 6 on YOUR list.

6. I'm not a Colts fan.

Yeah and then the CBA was redone and the salary cap jumped up. Had it not do yo think that alof of teams would have been over the salary cap?

The way I see it..... the Pats got shafted on that one and hopefully this year is payback.

With the CBA redone, alot of teams suddenly had a ton of money to throw at Givens and realistically would the Colts have had the money to sign AV? Deion saw the money b eing thrown around and we saw how that imploded, exploded, whatever.

McGinest was cut when he could have been retained(although I think most likely released).

Had the CBA not gone through I thiink other teams would have been hurting big time and forced to release players and the Pats core would ahve remained.

But guess what...payback is gonna hurt for the rest of the NFL next year!!!!!

I think the so called myth is that former Pats never play as well as they did with the Patriots after they leave. Vinatieri had a good year and is the exception to the rule. Overall, the so called myth is correct with a few exceptions and I don't consider Reid or Klecko ones of them.

Some of the other ones are correct although do think the the Colts did reach for Addai. Addai wasn't the guy they wanted and they settled for him because the guy they wanted was gone. It doesn't mean that the move didn't pan out.

I think the Pats reached for Ty Warren. I knew they wanted him in the first round, but with their second first round pick. After all the DTs that were taken in the first round, they knew they had to trade up with their first pick to get Warren or potentially lose out on him eventhough they thought he was more of a late first round talent. He still turned out to be a great pick up for the Pats.

Teams make reaches for players in the draft all the time based on what happens before their picks. Sometimes they work out great and others they don't. The Colts wanted Maroney and settled on Addai. It just was a reach that panned out.

How much cap room can the Colts really get from restructuring deals and such? They have 5 mill free - that's basically going to cover your rookies and in-season reinforcements. Can they really free the money to sign Freeney, June, and/or Harper??

Re: agree with you

Why post this right now? Are you trying to piss people off?

Here's some facts: They're just another ONE and DONE SB winner. NaPolian is still a prick. Peyton and Dungy are lucky to even be there. We had it in our hands.

I couldn't agree with you more.....Had we had a little more zip at the end......and had we had some intelligent offensive playcalling at the end of the game (like trying to run the ball more than 6 times in the second half for instance)....We would be sitting with another Lombardi....This one still stings......GO PATS 2007!!!!

New truths to be built up going forward:

1.) Peyton's contract will prevent the Colts from winning another Super Bowl.
2.) Former Pats never have success away from the Pats. See Hank Poteat, Ken Walter, Vinny Testaverde.
3.) Rain will favor the less incompetent team.
4.) Dominic Rhodes is Indy's best back.
5.) The Colts will implode in 2007.

LOL.....you are correct sir!

1) Yep. A lot of people have said it.
And yet I was accused of lying about it.

And, well, I could have sworn that you were saying the same thing about 4 years ago..

I never did.

Besides, only an idiot would ever say investing heavily in an all-time great QB is dumb.

For the record, I never thought nor did I ever post that those who claimed that Manning's contract would prevent the Colts from winning the Super Bowl were idiots. I learned a lot about the cap from them.

5 - Anyone who said that before the season was simply exercising wishful thinking, and you're a fool if you lend credence to people who predicted implosion for a team which went 13-3 last year and made the AFCCG and didn't lose much over the offseason.

"Wishful thinking". I wonder where I heard that before.

6. I'm not a Colts fan.

While I may not fit some people's definition of a Patriots fan, I fit my definition of a Patriots fan. And that is what counts the most to me.

How??? Peyton Manning signed his current contract in March, 2004.

5) I don't remember anyone saying this.

AzPatsFan is one and IIRC, he is the only one who later admitted that he was wrong.

Gee, Miguel when the hell did you become so friggin anal? I said ABOUT 4 years ago. That means I couldn't remember exactly when. So it was 3 years ago. So what? Had the cap not jumped up 17 million this past season, the Colts would have been in some serious trouble. Even you admitted that.

I don't know what bug crawled up your your ***, but you sure need to get it taken care of.

While I may not fit some people's definition of a Patriots fan, I fit my definition of a Patriots fan. And that is what counts the most to me.

And just what IS your definition of a Pats fan? All I ever see you posting of late is how "smart" you were because of your beliefs in the Colts. I don't see you posting squat about your beliefs in the Pats.
